Does the G80 comp Feel boring after awhile?

I drove a comp today & i absolutely love everything about the car! However this car is so damn fast i feel like i have to baby the throttle & was just wondering for all the G8X owners does it get boring after awhile or maybe get the manual instead?

Yes, it’s so smooth and quick that any enjoyment has you doing double the limit. I think wringing the neck on a Yaris gr would be more fun.

Saying that, I still love my g80 and drive it in rwd traction off for some low speed shenanigans.

My E46 M3 is a much more exciting car to drive but I don't think I could ever get bored of the G80. It's fabulous in its own way.

It’s a fun car knowing you’re driving a proper M car however if you have multiple cars in your stable and or/own an ev, yes it does get boring. Especially with power delivery and sound.

I’m sure on a track these cars are incredible. But for street driving they’re ok.

I came from the Subaru world and my old STi was more fun on the streets to row through the gears. The G80 is capable of hitting felony speeds much, much quicker than the STi so sometimes it does feel a bit like it's less exciting or engaging I guess. Still an amazing platform, however the old saying about how it's better to drive a slow car fast than a fast car slow holds true for me.

It doesn't get boring after a while but I don't think it's related to the transmission. You either like auto cars or not, it won't turn into a pumpkin after 3 months

Once you're used to a car, any car, you can get used to it to the point where it can get less surprising and exciting when going about your normal day to day. I've had my 6MT for 25 months and it's one of only two cars where this mostly hasn't happened. While I love my MT, I don't know that the auto would be that different since it's the overall package and chassis that continues to amuse me on a regular basis.

That being said, I spent so much of the winter driving carefully in heavy rain that I think I had, to a degree, forgotten what this car really is. I had a good drive last week on our one clear day with very little traffic and was able to open her up, hold the revs higher, and really enjoy the car for a little while. I was grinning from ear to ear by the time I got home.

Long story short - Almost any car will be boring if you drive it like a Prius or a Crosstrek.

Don't feel like it gets boring. More like you get acclimated to a car the more you use it. Screw-up a little & you can have an Oh Shit moment is any car.

Just like you can run an interstate for a few hours at 85MPH or so. When you leave the exit ramp it feels like you can get out & walk faster than the 45 local speed.

I’ve owned mine for 1yr and 5 months now and have accumulated 7,447 miles on the odometer. There hasn’t been a single day where I would say that I have been bored with the M3. However, like others have said, it does beg to be driven and becomes much more alive at the upper ends excessive speed. I think probably one thing that has helped is having been able to take the car out to the less populated areas and being able to get it up to speeds at 130+ or areas with lots of twists and turns, you definitely then get to realize how much potential this car has and just how much fun it can be.

I will say though, having done a lot of aesthetic mods has also probably kept my interest going a lot more on the car than normal too. Getting to put more of that personal touch on it and every few weeks or months putting something new on there just adds to the enjoyment of it all.

I’m the opposite. I’ve had more fun driving in the rain with TC off and kicking the tail out. I don’t find high speeds in this car that thrilling bc the engine’s not a screamer and the cabin’s so well insulated.

I doubt, considering your location, you grok driving in PNW endless rain. It isn't an occasional thing here, it's constant for six or seven months. I was referring to daily driving the car in traffic, not risking my only car for a momentary thrill in rare wet weather. Good luck with that.

Love my car and I am 16 months into ownership and it's not boring, it's frustrating to have all this power and nowhere to really open it up without losing your license. I k ow you can track these cars but for the money I paid, I can't wrap my head around thrashing it around a track yet. I'm a poor man so my risk tolerance is a lot higher than most. Once I get .ore miles and a few dings, I may venture to a track near me.

A little over a year in and you’d have to pry the keys from my cold dead hands Depends what you want out of the car I suppose. I’ve had (and still have) other cars that scratch an old-school “driving experience” type of itch. I mean 6MT, sounds, smells, feel etc. I wanted one of these because it wasn’t that. It’s modern, comfortable, and with a little squeeze of the pedal it will rip your face off. It doesn’t make the noises of the high-revving engines of the past, but my s58 is making about 3x the torque of my s54, and that’s been a lot of lot of fun in a different way. A little variety never hurts. Whether you can embrace something state-of-the-art and have fun with it is up to the individual I suppose. I’ve had a hell of a time tuning and watching the ET’s fall. It’s been a riot for me and my kids lol

I think I know what you mean, though it's a different kind of boring, the car is amazing but for a lot of situations especially city driving it's way too quick.
So when I want to hear some higher revs in the city and do it in style I take me e34 m5 out for a spin.

Seems we got this car for the same reasons.
I’m only a couple weeks into ownership and have only driven it maybe 5 times. I did almost miss my exit Thursday and gave her a kick to shoot the gap.
Just a squeeze of maybe 3/4 throttle and wow. Modern power. 510hp is BS. Car is 1,000 lbs heavier than my 400whp 911 and what acceleration.
Coming into the exit at triple digits I solidified my decision on the CCB’s. Just like my Porsche; nothing slows a car like CCB’s.

I don't think it would get boring, I certainly don't see myself getting bored of my G82. You'd certainly get used to the power and capability of it over time, so in that sense it becomes less "new" and more familiar, but I can't see an M3 or M4 getting boring. I still smile and laugh every time I go into the garage!

I don’t consider it boring, but sometimes I feel like it’s too much car to solely enjoy on the street. When I get the chance I’m definitely taking this car to the track to use it for its intended purpose.
