Looks are a significant downgrade compared to F80 if true.

No, current 3 is not the size of e60, I believe it is still smaller than e39...:
Yeah, six inches shorter and roughly the same wheelbase, width and height as the E39, which was about two and a half inches shorter than the E60.

Worth noting that the W205 C Class and the B9 A4 are nearly the exact same size as the E39, so safe to bet the G20 will be very close to E39 size and only slightly smaller than the E60.

Less weight, close to 500hp and rwd sounds promising.

I like the fixed bucket seat speculation too.

Throw on super wide tires, good steering feel and the same track ready cooling system and I'd be onboard!

This story was planted by BMW AG marketing to drive sales of the F80 6MT and M3 CS by upseting the enthusiasts.

I want AWD if this thing gets any more powerful.... traction is a MAJOR issue with the F80 unless conditions are perfect, and I live in Southern California.

Nobody wants AWD? Um okay
All marketing research and trends seem to show complete opposite information.

Added overall performance with the option to disable would be bad in your mind?

Leave RWD to the smaller lighter weight M2

This so called "M3" is not an M3 anymore.
M3 is dead, BMW killed it with the F8x generation.
M2 for me from now on.

Love the renders. Love the stats. Sad about the manual transmission option slowly being marginalized into a lower performance tier.

Make it unattractive for the consumer and then use the lower uptake to justify its elimination. Brilliant

"Electrically spooled turbochargers"

^ This is the electric nonsense I've been hoping for. Sure the lack of parasitic power loss is very negligible, but it should give M the ability to spool the snails extremely quickly, control the boost better and most importantly design the headers for a lovely exhaust note this time around, instead of the headers design catering to the turbos which I believe is one of the principal reasons for it not being that flattering of an exhaust note compared to other boosted inline 6's.

Feedback welcome. Cheers.

please don't look like that....

and low weight is good, jus keep the volume same or smaller, we don't want a 5 series cruiser, we want a car we can actually take it to track and use everyday like what M3 is supposed to do

The F80 is quite a bit wider than the e39 (1801mm) in fact it's wider than the G30 5 series due to the flared arches 1877mm for the M3 vs 1868mm for the G30

Parastatic loss for not occurred on turbos which is why they are so popular. They are using exhaust gas which does not put a load on the engine to work. Parastatals drag occurs when the item used horsepower from a car to operate. So a 100HP blower may actually be making 135hp but it robs 35 HP just to work.

Funny how the electric turbo used to be an ebay joke but now it could be a real thing.

If it does all the things you describe, and can do it to and withstand hours and hours of high speed a-bahn driving and DEs, that would be awesome

This article will definitely send buyers to stores!

LOL.. Kinda like the myths that have been passed around redneck parts about Obama (and getting rid of guns....)
Once Obama left office., gun companies that were insisting that Obama would eliminate guns are sitting on 2 years of inventory..

BMW NA will report a spike in 3 series sales for the month of December 2017 on Jan 3rd, 2018 caused by this report. Swapalease server has crashed with all the F80 owners uploading their lease specs/price to order a 2018 F80 6MT rear wheel drive with combustion engine before the apocalypse.
