I got the M3 in manual with CF Buckets. That will weight 1674 kilos.

My M3 CS weighs 1,588 kilos (correct?), so my increase will be 86 kilos (or 189.2 pounds). That correct? Just want to make sure I am doing the same apples to apples comparison.

It certainly will hurt their initial sales out of the gate among the people who pay attention to such things.

I doubt your M3cs is that light. I have not seen any official weighing of an M3cs, but the M4cs weighs 1,600~1,630kg depending on options and we know the M3cs is heavier than the M4cs by 20~40kg (added weight of the 4-door chassis and less weight reduction).

As for a G8X, it's all speculation. We don't know how the car in the OP is specced. Specced equivalently, you already need to assume +5kg for the G80 over the G82, so 1,679kg. So we can estimate your G80 to be ~35kg/80lb heavier than your M3cs.

Again, being very speculative here...

Take a look at what I posted in the previous page.

F80 CS weights are pretty similar unless you had the ceramics. So let's assume yours weighs the same as mine: 3657lb

Your G80 6MT with CF buckets weighs 3701lb.

The weight gain is 44lb, or just under 20kg

I doubt it made the slightest difference.

Lots of BMW M owners are closet P car fanatics who are saving their pennies to buy 'a Porsche'. Those people were thinking of getting a P car long before the pics and weight were released.

But good riddance I say. I hope they all leave this forum and go to rennlist.

Appreciate your response. So basically my weight gain will only be slightly more than a trip to Chipotle or Peter Luger's Steakhouse.

See what they gave us for the F8X:
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 1): The new M Servotronic.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 2): The Brake Systems.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 3): The new engine.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 4): Sound and Exhuast System.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 5): smartly light, rigid, precise.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 6): The new chassis.
BMW M3 and BMW M4 Inside (part 7): The Active M differential.

Here's my goal- If I can get an AWD Comp ZAF to be with as little tech and leather options as possible, and with the above options- do you think I can get it to be approx 3,800 lbs curb weight?
A G82 competition specced like the car in this video should be 3741 lbs adding BMWs numbers of weight delta base to comp. Add ~120 lbs for AWD and you are at 3860 lbs. You can maybe shave off another 10 lbs or so making 3850 possible but I think 3800 flat is going to be tough.

At least 3850 would keep a 500 lbs gap to the M5...
No way the delta to M5 is 500 lbs, rather 200 lbs

Official bmw site states M4 Comp at 1800kg and M5 Comp at 1970 kg and there you are at 375 lbs.
Add another 65 kg for the awd on M4 (as per 4 series with/without xdrive), and there you are only 200 lbs less than the M5
Dude. The M5 does not only weigh 200 lbs more than the upcoming M3. You'd have to be pretty nuts to think that. This is coming from someone who owns an F90 and F80, with an upcoming G80
Oh yeah, it does, read again what I wrote, took the numbers from the bmw website . M4 is 1800 kg on bnw website, M5 is 1970 kg on bmw website. Add another 65 kg for the awd on the M4 and the difference is 105 kg between the M4 and M5. Bmw says this

This has nothing to do with COVID. BMW have access to all that information. It’s for them to publish/market it.

So you’re assuming this video was completed during the time of the release.

Feels like the marketeers were in charge of this one and that is why the substance is not being shared.

I might sign up again because of AWD and wanting something I can drive year round with two little ones in the back.
Technical and engineering leap? Over a Naturally aspirated V8. Laughable.

No, because they are back peddling. The point is that they could have made that video at the time of release.

It’s lighter, more powerful, significantly faster and more enjoyable to drive on track. So I have to say yes it is.

What are you talking about nothing to do with COVID? Your lust for information has nothing to do with the safety of their workers. The plants in Germany were closed due to lock downs. More than enough time to get information out there.

That's a new one, a turbo I-6 preferred over a high revving sonorous NA V8, anyhow this is just an opinion.

Could not agree more. There is thoughtful and purposeful attempts to reduce weight and then there is an ill devised attempt to make the car so less livable as a daily driver that it becomes an impediment to sale.
