Props for putting your money where your mouth is. Everybody likes to talk good about the Alfa, but rarely ponies up for one. Well done!

I traded my F82 for an Alfa Giulia QV as well and had a similar experience. The chassis just feels way more alive than the F80/82 did, and it does so without feeling skittish at all. Also, in my 2+ years of ownership I've had zero unscheduled trips to the shop for repairs...knock on wood.

That said, the G80 is kinda calling my name...

Trade in the 1 giant grill for 2 of them.

Come to the dark side.

I kept my low mileage e92 m3 comp and added a '18 S4 to do daily duties.

Looked at G80 and RS5 but ended up happy back in my old v8 m3.

I picked up a 2021 Alfa Romeo Quadrifoglio and did some testing in the G80 before I decided on the Alfa.

My takeaways:

-G80 competition will ultimately edge out the QV as a track car, but only marginally.
-G80 is more tense and a bit harsher on the road.
-G80 has slightly better steering feel, but the QV is "faster" steering and feels lighter and more agile to me.
-G80 tech and interior is way ahead in modern touches
-G80 looks mean/agressive while the Alfa looks elegant and organic
-G80 sounds better than the F80, but the QV sings to me more and has more character (subjective)
-Chassis balance is amazing on both
-Braking is about even, BMW has better progressive braking feel while the QV is hard to modulate smoothly at first.

In the end I chose the QV over the G80 due to some intangible subjective things like styling, feel/emotion, and personal preferences. Both are amazing cars I think BMW did a seriously good job on the G80/82.

To answer OP's original question, I think if I really could not get my hands on a G80 or could not take delivery of mine for whatever reason I would get an RS5.

To my knowledge it's the closest thing in the performance sedan segment at this price range. No G80, but it's not a bad looking car either.

But as Kanye said... I guess we'll never know.

My initial thought process was to get a pre-owned GT3 after my F80 lease was up. I was able to recoup most of my lease on the F80 selling it to a wholesale dealer. But the prices on pre-owned GT3 have shot up with covid. I feel they will eventually come back down but not until more of the new 992 versions are released and people trade in their 991s. So I figured I would just lease the G80 M3 6 speed to hold me over for the next 3 years until I feel the price is right on a GT3. I just picked up my car Friday after having PPF and Ceramic coating applied. Drove it over the weekend and Idk if the lust for a GT3 is as strong any more. The G80 M3 has far surpassed my expectations. What a car!!! I was not a fan of the front at first release. But after stopping it pretty much daily at my local dealer to check them out It really grew on me. I now love the front. Even if a replacement bumper is made by an aftermarket company I cannot see myself replacing the factory bumber. I cant say that right now there is another car thats obtainable for me that I would rather have. (Obviously I would take a Ferrari Pista anyday of the week lol)

I feel the same way. The G80 is so good and so well rounded that it is tough to beat. I am sure that my next performance car will be a 911, but way more likely to be a 997 version and not a 992.

I voted, previous car was a F82 MT, figured I would share a few pictures. The inside pictures are the day I bought it, the outside ones were a few months ago.

Can you daily a GT4? I've never driven one but have been intrigued. I live in Arizona so weather is not a factor. I have read reviews that say the car is extremely loud on the highway and extremely stiff.

I think you could, but I would prefer not to.

Should add the G87 as a viable option, looking like S58 in a smaller, lighter package.

I'm dropping off my bmw this week and this might be my last bmw after almost 15 yrs of bmws. Moved over completely to Porsche and Tesla.
I did want to get the m5 CS but they asked for 10k over, understandable that these are highly desirable cars, but at that price point I'll just get another Porsche.
