Question G80 M3 in Marina Bay Blue - which brake caliper color?

Hey there,

I am quite new here, but after receiving my new "family member", the g80 M3 in Marina Bay Blue in April 2021, I think I will be here very often.

But one question keeps me awake long nights. 😂

Which brake caliper color fits best to Marina Bay Blue and black rims? Yes, we all know it would be gold, but there won’t be ceramic breaks here.

So the choices are:
  • Blue
  • Red
  • Black

...which I photoshopped here. The blue of the car edited too, according to an actual image of an M8 in Marina Bay Blue.

So what are your thoughts here?

Thanks and best regards.

I never like blue/red combinations (e.g. exterior/interior, exterior/brake caliper, etc).... so I would have to go with blue, since black isn't very visible

Red pretty easily for me. I've seen an F95 with red calipers and it looks incredible

I like red, but the rear calipers are so wee, I'd go with black so they aren't so visible.

I would choose black because I don’t really want the calipers to stand out that boldly. That said, I have red on my Arctic Race Blue M440i because only the blue or red were available on that.

Blue/red Superman look not my fav. Blue/Blue is too much. I'd get black or simply find someone to paint them yellow which would be ideal IMO.

I think it's a cheapish job to paint the calipers whatever color you choose

blue or black, as the red hints at a spider-man theme

The real question is: how did you get it in Marina Bay Blue? I don't see this beautiful color as an option.
(Black calipers for me btw)

BMW Individual.

Saw this M8 in Marina Bay Blue at the "BMW Welt" in Munich, asked my dealer what we can do, and Individual made it possible with not rally that much more costs, btw.

Got it, thank you.
Anyway it's annoying to pay an extra cost for an individual color that actually is a "regular" color as a free option on other M models.

I think that's the cost for special handling the Parts to paint in a color that is not common in this production plant.

Thank you for your time and your oppinion @-JLT-. But as I wrote, the additional 8K EUR for brakes, which i never really use like for what they were built for, are not an option.

And paint them is not allowed -> leasing.

What would be wrong with a „spider-man theme“? 😅

Just on the border blue for red calipers. Tanzanite and Carbon black looks awesome with red while San Marino is on the wrong side. IMO you can go either red or black with Marina Bay depending if you want it leaning more to the brute side with black or more Motorsport with red. I would go black.

Really?? my offer for Marina Bay Blue (almost the same as San Marino Blue, but not this slight purple touch) was "just" 1000 EUR more than for example Tansanit Blue.

Which color did you chose?

Red or black.
I just changed the caliper colour on my Blue M2 from blue to red & they look way better red.
Id go red if you want to highlight those impressive 6 pot front calipers OR go black if you want to hide that horrible rear floating caliper.🤔
