If this is all true, good news, especially the MT.

As much as I enjoy RWD, I have to say the F80 seems to be already challenging enough to put the power down. It will be interesting to see how M enhances traction on the next M3.

Hmmm yes. I'm excited. Please don't look too goofy. The F80 is a stunning piece of sheet metal. Now with a MT, I might have to switch back to manual if there is no DCT, but that's not really a bad thing, I'm starting to miss the clutch. I'll be skipping the base model and go to a ZCP right away please, so don't keep us waiting too long bmw! Give me close to 500 at the crank and I'll be happy to feed my tire fund!!

DCT is just another version of automatic... each version of which loses out to the next one that is faster..

please tell me one reason that anyone would prefer the dct over the 8 speed? neither has a clutch so the drive the same. I don't understand why people cry about this. also the 8 speed is more reliable.

Nice! 6mt with rear active steering!? Amazing. But no extra noise leaving the tailpipe! Wins and losses. Can't wait for it nonetheless!

" The overall shape is familiar and suggests that the 2020 M3 will evolve the look of the current car in a similar vein to the latest 5 Series and M5 models compared with their predecessor" so... sounds like good news..

while you are waiting.. you will want to get your BMW speak correct...

you will be looking for an M3/M4 Competition MODEL right away.. not the base model... and.. based on the rollout of the M5... you will NOT have to wait long because the competition model will be announced within 6 months of the base model and will feature lots of black trim rather than chrome.

There will not be a DCT.. so it's either 6MT or 8AT...

You mean massive body roll, a steering system that is not connected to the front wheels, and the engine note played through the speaker system?!?!?!?!

I'm one of those folks Sadly, I'm 6'2" with long legs, so space behind me is at a premium - and I've got 2 kids now. No one could sit behind me in my E90, and my 5-year old is just about out of space behind me in my F30 now. An extra inch or two of rear legroom would be pretty sweet.

Don't forget, BMW makes the 1 and 2-series now for those who want something smaller.

Have you driven a PDK-S car? As good as AT transmissions have gotten, they still don't compare to the best-in-class dual clutch transmissions.

The more rigid BMW structure may also allow M division engineers to give the M3 a more compliant ride in its most comfortable mode without hampering the car’s overall dynamic ability, making it a better all-rounder and potentially more forgiving in low-grip scenarios.

The G80 has BIG shoes to fill given the success of the F80.

Aside from the sound its pretty much perfect in every way. Even till this day seeing an M3 on the road with its wide hips makes you do a double take.
