There is one. Boss330 numbers are a bit misleading they way they are presented. Showing the two extreme apples-to-apples comparisons:

F82 6MT -> G82 6MT RWD
52.1/47.9 -> 52.7/47.3 2

F80 DCT -> G80 8AT RWD
52.2/47.8 -> 53.1/46.9

The shift is in 0.6% to 0.9% range depending on model and transmission. And I am even using the AM&S data for the F82 6MT, as the BMW official press release numbers were much better at 51.8/48.2. While not drastic, it is a progressive shift we have been seeing with every generation with more and more weight on the front axle. Expect the AWD version to make it even worse.

Now if you do the math to figure if it is meaningful or not: the 6MT, the G8X carries 117lb of its extra 181lb (65% of it) on the front wheels.
Agreed. However my point was to put it in context as it seemed like there was a perception that the F8x had 50/50... Which would make this generation a significant step in the wrong direction.

Btw, this M4 GTS weighed in with 53,2/46,8

https://f80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1290242

And the E92 was also around 52/48

Sport Auto found the real life difference in curb weight between a E92 M3 DCT and F82 M4 DCT to be just 15kg btw...

Be wary, that 265/35R19 PSC2 you mention is the REAR tire for the M2cs and SHOULD NOT be used on the front axle of the M3/4.

For some reason BMW chose the imprecise star designation for all their specific tires. Other manufacturers choose to use a combination of numbers and letters which makes it clearer what specific vehicle application the tires were designed for.
wow why is that!?? I didn't know. yea no way to tell f it's for front or rear then

Front and rear tires have different desired characteristics. In general terms, front tires will have a more rounded contact patch to favour turn-in response and steering feedback while rear tires have a squarer contact patch to favour traction. There are all sorts of other different parameters too such as sidewall stiffness of water evacuation characteristics to name just these. You also need to factor the wheel width the tire was designed for.

There is no direct way of knowing if a tire is a front or rear application, you need to research what is the vehicle application for the specific tire to find out.

that is crazy. why would bmw do that, it costs them more money to do that also. so you're saying i should get M4 GTS tires for my wheels, and front star rated for front only or just get a normal black sidewall in that size?

i have 763M wheels 19" combo for M2 and use it on my M4. i used up 245 cup2 very quickly, moved the rear 265 to front and got 285 for the rear. I track 10 times a year, and now I got the new DT1 cup2 for front... so far i can't tell the difference on street, i may not track it then and find something else. or just get a normal black sidewall cup2 instead. hmm

on tire rack you can't tell whether if it's for front or now. they have 6 different 265/35 19" tires, some are MO, some are BMW star, DT, DT1, etc. DT1 tread is a lot different than DT, it actually looks like it will do better job in the rain which cup2 is horrible for. and supposed to last longer...

for rear they have 20" 285/30 in DT1 240 rating but it is cup2 connect tire , I have normal 285 cup2 in the rear now

You better believe it, BMW and Michelin (as other tire manufacturers) do invest the R&D time to optimize the tire for the given chassis. That's the whole point of the video in the OP.

I'm not saying that using the rear M2 PSC2 will not work in front of M3/4, what I am saying is that it is suboptimal. On my first M4, I, at some point, installed the rear 275 in front and it sure was not optimal and I certainly could feel the difference.

I think I've finally found a video of the 18/19 in action (Black M4 starting at 1:19).

I'm contemplating whether to get the car with 18/19 or the 19/20. The streets of HK can be jarring and for a daily driver (only car) I'm still wondering if I want 19/20.

On the other hand 18x9.5" with 275/40 tires and 19x10.5" with 285/35 tires does sound pretty awesome for a Stock wheel/tire combo
