G80 M3 interior/exterior colors and seat details

  • Some G80 details:

Colors: Alpine White, Black Sapphire, Dravit Grey, Portimao Blue, Tanzanite Blue, Isle of Man Green, Sao Paolo Yellow, Toronto Red.

Interiors: black, orange/black, blue/black (merino leather, partial or full).

The M specific sport seats will be standard, but there will also be optional CF bucket seats (seen in the latest spy photo), available also in the U.S.

Speaking of carbon fiber, there'll be much more CF trim available without the need to go to the performance catalog.

Holy smokes no way. Would love some clarity on the seats - so is he saying the ones weve been seeing lately r the optional bucket seats then right?

Damn... no good silver it seems. Having had tanzanite already I'd go Isle of Man Green depending on how it looks.

Colors are nothing that I can say wow.

The one thing that really interest me is CF bucket seats.

Wish they would offer CF package, like adding hood and more.
Ford offers CF rims which I would be very interested too.

Can't find a photo of the SP Yellow or IoM Green.. probably would do Dravit, Portimao or Tanzanite depending on wheel options... nice update!

Ouch, the huge grill will really show on this color
Black will hide grill better. Lol

I would love to see São Paulo Yellow or Isle of Man Green. I would probably do SPY just because of my connection to Brasil. Interlagos [a Brazilian racetrack] Blue is still one of my favorites, especially when I opted for it on my '05 ZCP E46 ///M3. It also seems like I'll be back to a black interior because red/black or blue/black won't work for me based on the way BMW has been doing their two tone interiors lately.

Dravit Grey makes sense. That kind of primer shade of grey has been the hot color since the mid 2010s. Seen tons of them on everything from Hondas to Porsches.

Portimao... meh. It's nice, but on the standard G20 and San Marino would have been awesome.

Tanzanite... meh. I wish there was a more special blue available.

Isle of Man Green - Interested to see this one. I bet it's a deep metallic green. That color is very popular right now in fashion and interior design. And I'm pretty sure the upcoming iPhone to be unveiled this week will have this color as an option.

Sao Paolo Yellow - If I were a betting man, I'd say it's close to Austin Yellow. At least I hope so. It's probably my favorite color BMW has introduced recently even though I'm usually not a big fan of yellow cars. It has a kind of concept car color look to it. I don't think a Dakar-esque yellow would really fit on a car as big as the G8x as a standard color.

Toronto Red - Too orangey for me. Why BMW doesn't want to make a normal red M car is beyond me. Imola is awesome...

Also curious to see what shade of blue they use for a two-tone seats. Maybe similar to the Lemans seats on the E39 M5?

AW: Have it now and I never get the same color back to back.
BSM: Had it on one funfer. Too much maintenance but if nothing else, maybe.
Dravit: Hell no, not driving around in car looking like it was pulled out of the paint shop with just primer on it.
Portimao: M340i launch color, kind of feel wrong on the M of that reason.
Tanzanite: Too dark, looks kind of dull in overcast / PNW.
IoM: Green...very difficult to pull off on anything but English cars, so no.
Yellow: no.
Toronto red: Maybe, it was popular on the E30 M3 but red cars are kind of reserved for Italy.

So no ideal color here. As for interior. Full black of course. Two-tone? Heck no.

Less than exciting for sure. None of those colors are really giving off the "gotta have it" vibe like LSB, PY, YMB, AY, IB, etc.....although SPY remains to be seen. I wonder if Individual will be available at launch?!?! Is SPY is similar to Speed Yellow, that could be an option.

Haha, that's exactly what I thought. No silver or light grey color is pretty disappointing. Tanzanite Blue would be my favourite color out of these but since my F80 has that color, I was thinking about a change (although I still really love Tanzanite Blue).

So I'm also wondering how Isle of Man Green would look like, I hope not too bright and flashy.

I could conceivably see a couple more Priority 1 Individual colors added to the option list for ~$1950, though perhaps not at SOP. If that happens, there’s always the possibility that a silver color might be in the mix (the F80 got Moonstone, for example, which is a very nice silver).

That's funny.... Black might be really the best option here.
Disappointing on colors big time.

Some of my favorites after digging through the F80 color sticky:

Estoril Blue II
Le Mans blue
Grigio Telesto

I don't think my wife would go along with Green. My kids would love a lizard green but it'll probably be much darker. Deep green would be cool though and I'd consider it for something different.

SPY will probably be cool but I don't like to stand out that much from the crowd and would lose all sleeper spec ... if it were a track only car but not to daily.

5 actual colors in addition to shades of grey/white/black.... definitely more interesting options than the f80 had initially ... are the colors better? that's questionable but definitely a wider range instead of the YMB, SO, AY all of which were quite bright.

What are you hoping for as individual?

Wider range I agree with, but I don't think it's necessarily a better palette in terms of the actual color choices.......at least not without seeing them first, and especially absent a really awesome blue (..e.g. Estoril for the E36, Laguna Seca for the E46, Interlagos for the E9X and Yas Marina for the F8X).

As for my Individual hopes.....

....I suppose there's not any one color I have in mind yet, but I just would like the option to go with something other than white, black, boring regular 3 Series' blues, yellow, red or dark green. I would probably consider Porsche's Fashion or Chalk grays (...which are the two colors that I want on the GT3 I'll eventually purchase). I likely wouldn't do any color that I've already had, so Alpine White (too many times to count), Phoenix Yellow, Interlagos Blue (twice: my '05 ZCP M3 and my '08 E9X M3 sedan), Mystic Blue, Yas Marina Blue, Black Sapphire Metallic, and Nardo Gray are all ruled out.

I want Toronto red based on the x3m/x4m photos... only issue is bmw delivering the car for sale before my lease ends... sighhh

Color is so personal. Opinion on the palette is just that... in my opinion it is more expressive than the f80
