For individual cars, do the cars appear with the correct color in the my BMW app? Or is it always the white car they put in the order tracker? How about representations of the car inside iDrive?

Can't speak about the clutch weight as I have a Comp and my last M240i was 8AT but steering is noticeably heavier in the G80 especially in Comfort. Not a ton of feel but way more direct and weighted than the 2.

Couple of other impressions: - I'm sure the carbon buckets embrace you like a long-lost lover, but the base seats offered a ton of comfort and great lateral support... better than the thrones in my M240, FWIW (which I think are already extremely comfortable and supportive). - Maybe I've gotten used to the face, but honestly it looked great in person. I saw a large number of people entering the showroom and gawking at it, mostly with very positive impressions. The overall appearance is aggressive and unique and works well, IMHO. Honestly, the humongous kidneys on the 7-series right next to it seemed a lot more awkward. - I've also heard people complaining about the HK sound system. It may not be as special as one of the premium B&W systems on a 7-series, but even listening to FM radio, it was far, far superior to the base "HiFi" (non-HK) system I had in my M240 (which was already improved from the factory by installing BavSound speakers a couple years back). - Great leg- and head-room in the back and cargo space. Bear in mind we're talking about a 3-series here, and this is a ~500hp saloon that'll hoon all day long while carrying four in comfort. Very impressive packaging.

Good to know, I was hoping for tighter steering. Thinking about an order and there are none local to even sit in, let alone test drive. Thanks much!!

I did drive the M4 Base with 6MT before ordering my M3 Comp and I honestly was not a fan of the clutch take-up and feel. Granted, it's been a few years since I've owned a BMW with a clutch (08' 135i) but I felt the clutch lacked feel and engaged a bit high for my preference. It made it hard to take off smoothly from a stop. Now, folks will say that you can install a clutch stop and that will greatly improve this but I can't say for sure. Other than that, everything about the car felt like it was dialed up to 10 compared to the M240i. Even driving it slow felt special and that is what sealed the deal for me. Pull the trigger if you can, you won't regret it for half a second.

I'm debating trying to find a lightly used 340 or M240 vs building my perfect spec new M3 so these comparisions truly help. Keep 'em coming!! |

The clutch is very similar to my ‘18 340i. The engagement point is high in both. I can confirm that the clutch stop helps tremendously. I took out one of the three washers to avoid potential issues with auto rev match that some people are having.
The shifter in the G80 seems to have a bit less rubberiness and less free play in gear. Steering feels a bit tighter and more precise, but just as numb. I swapped out of my 340i lease after 20 months because it just didn’t feel special, if that tells you anything. |

The problem with the 6 spd setups is the clutch delay valve that BMW builds in. The CDV makes it difficult to take off and shift smoothly especially for people that are new to manual setups. It used to be easy to pull the CDV and get a more natural feel. I have heard it is now built into the master cylinder now making it much more difficult to remove.

I got about 370+ miles on a road trip I just took, and when I filled up it stopped at 13 gallons and I was still on a quarter tank with an estimated 85 mile range. Thankfully the car gets an easy high 20s and I was even regularly in a steady low 30s MPG on the highway. Consistent with my F82, which is exactly what I was hoping for.

Hmm, that's a first one for BMW.. (at least in modern cars) Can't remember which brand, but I've seen that before.

Nothing special indeed, 7 year-old design, my 2014 X5 Msport has the exact same key. M flag and everything.
