I would add to that - reliability on the track.

If you track your car - the complexity and constant work of transfer case will kill it - transfer case will fail

Heavy car will generate a lot of heat on the front brakes, so the drive shaft ball joints ill overheat on front wheels and eventually fail.

I even question the reliability of the auto box for track work. Most of those automatics are life fill with oil. How will it handle heat?
Manual box is much simpler for the track duty and possibility to put good racing Motul fluid in the gearbox and change it is a plus.
CanAutM3 will have first hand experience soon since the intend to track an AWD car frequently. Will be interesting to see how it holds up, transfer case and all. My guess...very, very well.

Why? When Audi dominated European touring racing already back in the 90s with the Audi 80 Quattro Super touring it was deemed one of the most reliable if not the most reliable car. That was all track racing, then you have decenniums of successful AWD rallying torturing AWD drive trains. Easier on the components in some ways than grippy surface but hard on durability in other ways. I don’t think a weekend track warrior have much to be concerned about.

Don't worry, if the RWD M4 can go from 0 to 100 km/h in just 3,6 sec starting from a second gear, and doing 200 km/h in 11,4 sec. I expect the AWD version to take at least 3 sec from 0-60 mph, and even below 3 sec. mark on a good day

On this paper I have linked they also say that the car was much faster than official numbers suggest (3,9 / 0-100 km/h, and 12,5 / 0-200 km/h), but they also say that colder air and grippy surface did help a little bit!

Anyhow, it will be the first M3 that is properly fast out of the box on the strip.
Expect >1.6x the acceleration from 0-37mph with AWD vs RWD. This is massive. I have no doubts we will se some G8X clocking below 3.0sec 0-60mph

I currently have an 11' 335 MT x-drive as a DD and it is a great car. Also have an 18' M2 MT (first non-AWD car since 95'). I too live in PA and the x-drive is great to have. I am curious about the G87 I am considering and keeping an eye on. Love the smaller wheelbase of the M2. I will possibly get a G87 MT, but would for sure purchase if it had x-drive as well. I feel so fortunate to have an e90 x-drive MT and a M2 MT.

Talking about 0-60 times, yes I expect the 4WD version to do below 3.4s, maybe 3.2s consistently I would say.

RWD does 3.6s every now and then but it's probably going to do 3.8s or higher consistently.

In real life the difference is going to be massive mainly due to launch consistency under different conditions.
