2024 G80 M3 Comp xDrive electrical issues after PPF
Featured on BIMMERPOST.com Just picked up a new G80 M3 Comp xDrive at the beginning of the month and having some strange issues after doing a PPF. Wrap shop encountered these issues after replacing door handles and has experienced similar electrical issues on an M3 CS (solution was to replace all affected modules and took ~6 months). They also notified me that the battery drained completely as they left the doors open overnight, but BMW service verified the battery health and charge. The issues are:
Took the car to BMW service immediately after, they scanned and brought up a fault code for driver front windows, 030035. They verified all wires and connectors and discovered a bad signal to the driver door from the BDC (body domain controller). Replacing BDC had no effect and now they are back at square one. They are currently sending the signal output to BMW in Germany for diagnosis. The car has been out of commission for 8 days at this point and they have ruled out any mistakes by the wrap shop, so this is all warrantied work. Has anyone else experienced an issue like this after doing a wrap? |

I mean, it was fine before the wrap shop took it all apart to PPF it and then it doesn’t work properly afterwards. It doesn’t take a genius here. The fact that they botched a CS before with same issues tells me it’s them. I’m actually surprised BMW is warranting this due to the circumstances. My money is on water solution being overly sprayed into all the door electronics and who knows where else. Someone got a little fire hosey with their sprayers. I wouldn’t go back to that place for anything, but that’s just me.

GPS issue was an iDrive bug fixed in 07/2023 and later. Dealer can upgrade the software if it's older than that.

Turns out the issue was a faulty driver's door handle harness. BMW Service replaced the entire door handle, all issues seem to have been resolved.

AKA, “We took the door handle off and sprayed a bunch of PPF liquid in all over the opening and wires harness plugs.” 🤷*♂️

I mean the PPF shop flat out told the guy “they did another BMW and it did the same thing”… gee, maybe it’s them and not BMW. 🙄😆

Sorry this happened but consider yourself very lucky. The dealer could have easily said “take it back to the shop that did the PPF or pay $$$ for us to fix it”. Sounds like you are working with a great dealer since they covered it. This shows me they really value their customers.
