Congrats. I am in Charlotte also. Hope to see you at the Cars and Coffee Saturday. One of the biggest monthly shows in the southeast.

In my opinion MBB is the best metallic blue BMW ever produced.
Hijacking the thread with my wife's MBB M5 after wash.

As a bonus, it's insanely easy to keep clean. This is what it looks like when it's *dirty*. When it's clean, it practically glows blue. It's a serious head turner.

What's crazy is that MBB is not even in the top 20 best looking G80/G82 colors based on this poll: https://g80.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1868939
It must be because it's uncommon. |

Yeah I was cheating using the other pictures and slacking on editing and uploading my own shots before posting. I actually took very few pictures on the trip and was caught up in all of the activities.
Immediately upon arrival the M3 was sitting in the main/central lobby of the Performance Center. I stood outside and admired it and waited for everyone else to clear out before going in to take some pictures. You can see a Frozen Bluestone M5 staged for delivery in the background. We then moved on to the driving experiences for the day. We were granted use of the "Hero Car" with the driving school livery. It was RWD and had CCBs and carbon bucket seats. This is the 340i that we all had our fun spinning out on the skid pad. After a few of us took our turn the computer freaked out from all the spinning around and bricked the car and it had to get towed off the track. We then moved on to the braking test and road course time with the Hero car. The CCBs and overall braking power is definitely a step up from what I remember doing the tests in the F80. The car never makes it to the turning portion of their brake/turn setup (for those who have been you might know what this means). After having a blast on the track, we did the SUV portion of the driving activities. The instructor this trip stopped to take pictures for us (they didn't do that in 2016). We sat on the top of the hill sideways for quite awhile waiting for the vehicles ahead to move as we were the last in line. Pro tip - don't turn on all the sporty settings in the X5 M50i when doing the climbing activities... or do... ok, yeah, bad pro tip. You should do it. Also, for those who have been, the section right before this is really fun to try to rock the X5 back/forth if you have a passenger with you while the right front and left rear are off the ground. Finally before our lunch we went through vehicle delivery. This was the first time I was able to stop and really admire the car, get inside, and realize just how far out of my depth I was with ID7 for a first time user. The delivery specialist got me good by asking me what the break in period and RPM limits were after hearing about my European Delivery trip (I was way off on the mileage). For anyone wondering, I fully intend on treating this car right through it's break in period but the old F80 definitely got the bucket list, once in a lifetime, treatment on the autobahn and on the Nürburgring. The car shined in the sun but it definitely needed tint. It was a warm day in Spartanburg and the first time I got in the car I was immediately thankful for having ventilated seats. After all of the fun, lunch, and delivery activities we went off to the factory tour where I saw a few of the new heritage roundels being installed. I asked if I could snag some and was denied. All in all it was a great trip. I've always and will continue to recommend anyone buying a new car to consider picking it up there for the experience. For those who are unaware, even if you don't take delivery of your car on-site in Spartanburg, all new car buyers get a "New Owners Track Drive" experience. I'm not certain to the degree this is different from the delivery (minus taking delivery of your car), but any new owner has the option of doing this. In fact, I just learned that even if you take delivery at the Performance Center, you can go back later for the driving experience. I'll probably do that for fun in the coming months.

Great write up and pics! That's crazy about bricking the car. And yea, after 2h going over all of the iDrive7 stuff it still took me a few months to figure it all out.

A week. So far so good. If it's wet it's a little slippery.

I agree but right after Tanzanite due to its color changing effects. But I may be biased
