Surprised nobody has partnered up with Supreme. I'd imagine slapping a Supreme label on a base Honda Civic would sell for 100k+ easy.

The technology is already there, the cars are everywhere around San Francisco covered in cameras, it's the laws that will take forever though so I'd agree it's a long way off.

Why would they be? Urban youth can Uber anywhere they want, rent a car for 2 hours or pick up a bike or scooter and drop it off on the side of the street. Cars are going the way of horses - once a mandatory form of transport and soon to be a luxury for fanatics and hobbyists.

the smart money (billion dollar VC's out of Brazil partnering with Chrysler on topographical maps and quantum computing) says 12-15 years. I have a 2 year old who will likely never learn to drive IMO.

The technology may be almost there, but human psychology is nowhere near ready for that.

Maybe it will never even reach 100% perfection (I believe so, but I think it can happen with a totally different way of transport, don't think of transport in the form of cars). The real question is, what will be enough to stop producing non-self driving cars. Then there are some other factors that need to be considered: - Can the current road infrastructure handle this? Or does it need a restructure. And before you say, but cars are self driving right now on the road. I mean ALL roads, ALL. Yes, even the dirt roads, or your driveway. And the driveway into the parking garage. What if you have a driveway that splits? What side will the car take to park? What if there are already cars parked at 1 side, will it take the other? Or just stop and then you are like fuck, I have no steering wheel. (not all roads are made out of concrete and with lines and with potholes that are only 10cm deep, off-roading is necessary in some parts of the world) - Can it be possible to have 99.99999% perfect technology for self-driving cars be mixed with ppl who are actually driving, or is that 99.9% only for the ideal situation where everything on wheels with some sort of motor is self-driving? If this is not possible, then there needs to be a switch where everyone starts having self-driving cars on the same day. - Say, maybe after 10-15 years the half of the world is sitting in self-driving cars, there are regulations and such BUT they defer between countries, will your car stop at a border when you want to cross into a country where your car is not allowed? Or what will happen? (f.i. Europe has a lot of crossable borders ) My point is not against self-driving cars, but when everyone praises the technology and makes assumptions om when we will have them as a society. Just stop for a moment and ask yourself what they say, don't just blindly believe everything, especially not big company's who will always say that it will happen sooner instead of later because they will say the thing what's best for their interests. |

Hoodie wearing kids can easily afford used BMWs, unlike Porsches. BMW is not in the same league as a Porsche, price wise and performance wise.
