What do you dislike about the wheel and why do you not like a bbq?

I mean the aesthetic of the new steering with the raised leather stitched airbag section and silver accenting. It's not m3 specific, it's the new bmw steering wheel design.

I can't see the grills so I guess I care less about them.

I don't hate it but I don't like it either. I do like the older design better. The new one looks less sporty and/or aggressive to me.

The old one is better but the new one is fine. I just got a G20 with it. I don't like the chunky, shallow buttons in particular, but I do like the stitched airbag and it feels good in the hands. I hope the shift paddles are metal in the M3/M4 though.

Seems M specific enough for me with the red M buttons. Isn't the 2021 M5 wheel almost identical?

BMW has been using this new M wheel on all their M Sport and M cars for the past few years. I do think it looks chunkier, but in hand it feels much nicer. The quality is palpably better including the tactile feedback on the buttons, quality of the leather/stitching, and while I know this has nothing to do with the steering wheel, the stupid turn signal and wiper stalk have been "fixed" to be more conventional now.

I'll admit it looks bad in pictures, but it looks fine in person. I use one every day. The only problem is that the wheel is unnecessarily thick. It's not uncomfortable but I wonder why carmakers are making their wheels so thick these days.

Let's be honest, BMW has a history of making pretty ugly steering wheels. The past two M wheels have been some of the best in BMW's history.

Don't hate it but don't like it much either.
The last gen steering wheel suited my taste better with the thinner spokes, but the best one recently is from Porsche.

I like the design and it looks a bit smaller as well. Also like the placement of the M mode buttons.

The new interior looks very generic to me,no special at all.
Another step backwards from F80 gen
Most of parts are carry over from 1 series to 8,no personality
Very bland design, but there is the virtual cockpit and that's what the average customer wants
The worst part is the steering wheel that looks like a big lolly pop

BMW has never excelled in the design of the steering wheel. Too boring.

The current M Sport steering wheel is loads better than the F chassis one, I can't stand it in my F80.

As a person that's owned vehicles with the old and new wheel I can say the new stitched air bag looks miles better than the old one after that it comes down to splitting hairs.

I do like the new M buttons, red and in a place not easy to hit accidentally.

They look serious

Also regarding fuss and unnecessary buttons etc

This. AUDI, VW, Mercedes make much better looking steering wheels.

I loved the E9x M3 wheel and still do. F8x wheel always seemed to be very hollow looking with how slimline the trim is. I like seeing the G8x wheel is a bit more meat on the bones so to speak. But it's still a boring wheel for 2020.
