First day with my g82x - advice for future owners
First day report on some of the things that I noticed in random order:
1. Great job on designing of shifting gears. I appreciate how you have to pull down and then push to the right (2 steps) to put it in auto drive gear. And also how you have to push up left at an angle for reverse is nice. 2. Car is longer than I expected, which I actually like because I was contemplating a m850, so if ur expecting a small nimble quick car this is not for you. U can def feel the weight. 3. Pbm is bright, holy sh1t. Its really a stunning color, has a slight purple hue under the sun but at night turns into a nice darker blue shade. If you dont want attention, get black or darker blue. 4. 825m wheels are amazing looking. I saw the black g80 wheels in person and theyre meh... 5. Back seats can comfortably seat 2 adults < 5'8/170lbs. Im 5'11 and my head touched when leaning back but surprisingly plenty of legroom 6. Glove compartment is super small and also dash material looks/feels super cheap, come on bmw spend $500 extra in materials and upgrade that sh1t even stock its unacceptable imo... 7. Matching brake calipers look great. I thought id regret getting blue on blue but def happy with it. Saw a green car with red calipers and it just looks kinda goofy imo. 8. Must get seat ventilation esp if you live down south. It cools very well despite what I've read on here. 9. If I could option it again, I'd get carbon fiber roof just to give it that contrast but the moonroof does open all the way which is a plus. I got it because sometimes I like fresh air without having to deal with whatever happens when you open ur drivers side window the random "hey man u wanna race" or "how much did that thing cost" 10. Dont get carbon fiber seats unless you're an abercrombie model, I got "regular" seats and even they feel snug. 11. Front grille is not bad at all. Looks super aggressive actually. Def not a reason to not buy. 12. Cf option interior = a must. Cf option exterior = not really. Stock black looks great. 13. Back of the car is BEEFY like a lexus got some butt injections 14. I really appreciate that auto h feature. With it on, if u stop car stays stopped until u hit the gas. Very cool feature esp if u live in the city |

On a long journey, my issue with the seats was that the bottom side bolsters caused fatigue in my legs. No adjustment there. I think the CF seats works for some body types but not all, but then I have not tried them, it is mainly me comparing comfort of the normal seats vs those on my F30 MSport.

Was going to ask the same thing. The full leather is super nice and a must have for an $80k+ car.

I think it's a reasonable price for the leather dash and door upper panels. Oh well, I'll get it on my next build. |

Same. I'm all for having nice materials in my car, to an extent. There is a point, though, where "Nice to have" just isn't worth the cost and/or maintenance required. I think the normal Sensatec material on the dash and soft plastics throughout most of the car is plenty nice, and it doesn't require maintenance to keep in pristine condition. I also thought about getting wood trim in my car, but am glad I got the metal... again, less maintenance and it will last longer.

I don't think the non-leather surfaces look cheap at all. They are at least the equal to the Audi and better than the C63S imo. Glove box is ok, as there is decent center console space. Otherwise, good review. Love the flame cut 825m wheels. Black has never appealed to me--especially on a dark car.

What do you mean by clean/maintain? I've had a car with full leather for more than 6 years and I never took special care of the leather on the dash and upper door panel (just dusted it off, which i would do with any material) and it looks like the first day.

Agreed, I feel as tho it's a huge waste of money, but to each their own. Can't believe they want $1,000 for carbon fiber trim, but give it to you for free on the x3m

In the X3M, it's a sliver of carbon fiber on the dash that doesn't even go all the way across. Nothing on the center console, nothing on the steering wheel, and nothing on the paddles Have you looked at the cost of just the carbon fiber paddles alone if you add aftermarket? They're near the cost of the package. It's a great buy for the cost! |

It's annoying BMW charges the same price for the CF interior package whether you get the auto (paddles) or 6MT (no extra CF bits).

$2550 isn’t all that bad when comparing it to other comparable German cars for full leather. I knew I would have regretted not going full leather so I made the switch last minute. I’ve never heard anyone say they regret getting the full leather. Usually the opposite.
