Cruising down the road going 55 mph and you feel like hearing a downshift exhaust note without paddle shifting, just floor the gas pedal all way for a millisecond, it downshifts with a nice sound and just holds that gear for a second before returning to normal..for some reason it sounds like a dual clutch vs a paddle shift which sounds horrible.. try it and let me know what you think. It sounds way more refined

just realized today that the visors can be extended sideways, pretty handy when the sun is at a certain angle. Good thing my son watches a lot of youtube lol.
He also convinced me to try Launch Control.

Roadside parking lamp buttons are much more convenient than remembering the old sequence of steps BMWs required to activate them ...

Learned that if you hit the red M buttons a second time, it resorts back to default setting. Te settings the car starts in.

Caveat being if you have any setting that disables the nannies (eg MDM) you need to hit the button twice to activate (2nd time basically to confirm), then hit again to cancel as you indicated.

True. Made changing the set up so much easier.

I was reading the recent C&D long term review of the M3. I found out today that on the base (what about the comp?) the brake ducts are blocked from the factory. To un-block them is pretty easy though, see below. I'll be doing this soon, just wanted to make others aware.

The M3's base brakes have blocked ducts from the factory; the owner's manual says this is to avoid extra water ingestion and increased drag, we imagine to negligible effect. Fortunately, removing the plastic piece for extra cooling involves simply turning the wheels all the way in one direction, reaching under the fenders, and popping off the covers. It's a two-minute job that you can do immediately upon arriving at a track day.

Seems like they're saying the "base brakes" as in the steel ones, not the Carbon Ceramic brakes.

What mode is this?

I guess I didn't read the manual well enough.

The Comp models come with the brake ducts blocked as well. I removed mine at the track in seconds, then kept them off because I'm lazy lol. I have the non-CCBs btw.

Started my car facing the sun today and noticed something inside the head up display cave moves to mirror the speed info onto the window. I never knew it had moving parts other than fine adjustments. Maybe its just a door to protect it. I dunno. But I saw something move in there. lol.

I have CCBs, and the little flip panels came installed on mine, as well. I haven't removed them, yet. I don't get the brakes that hot.

I'm sure someone already added this, but I noticed yesterday as I approached train tracks a yellow triangle came up warning me of uneven pavement ahead. Counted down the distance as I got closer. Now if it would just do the same for large potholes...

See the "P" buttons with the horizontal lines emanating from them? Those are your roadside parking lights. The one below "OFF" is for the left (driver's side) lights; the one below the low beam headlight switch is for the right (passenger side) lights.

The idea is to illuminate just the side of the car closest to passing traffic, when parking along a dark street or road. One can do so much longer without unduly draining the car's battery, vs. illuminating both sides' lights with the standard parking light. (Or that was the premise with older lighting technology.)

Try this trick tomorrow. Thanks for sharing
Why would you do this at all since the car has easy access already built-into the door handle?

Does the G80/82 have a cd player and hard drive to store music like my 2011 335is had? Not trying to be old school, but it sounded better than what I'm hearing from the system in my 2023 M4.

Noticed the left and right shift paddles don’t have the same rubber finish. Very strange.
