PCD dates?

does anyone know the process regarding PCD dates? after the car makes it to the PCD they give you dates to choose from? What happens if you cant make those dates? What is the range of dates they provide you with? Do they stretch out to 2 weeks out or more?

Once the car is done processing at the VPC (after it lands state-side), they email the scheduled date to your CA and they'd let you know.

You get one date. You take it or leave it.

If you can't make it, they will then redirect the car to be shipped to the dealer instead. They're very strict about dates and most likely won't accommodate you requesting a different date. Only available M-F afaik. Keep in mind if you can't make it *after* the car has arrived at the PCD, you have to pay to have it shipped somewhere else, or you go pick it up from there.

Timeframes are usually 2-3 weeks out from when they release the work order at the VPC.

Ive been told that if you cant make the dates then they will ship the car directly to the dealer and you have to cover that cost

If you reject the date when it's still at the VPC, they can redirect it to the dealer without you paying for it. If it makes it to the PCD and then you cancel, you have to pay to have it shipped to the dealer.

Here's the quote from the PC email I got:

Quote:
Cancellations

If you need to cancel your Performance Center Delivery, notify the BMW Center from whom you ordered the vehicle immediately. They are required to submit a cancellation form for your vehicle. Please note the following two circumstances and the resulting outcome:

- If the vehicle has already been shipped to the BMW Performance Center, you are responsible for any shipping charges that apply to transport the vehicle back to your selling BMW Center. Vehicles are delivered to our facility approximately 2 weeks prior to your delivery date.

- If the vehicle has not been shipped to the BMW Performance Center, upon receipt of the Cancellation Form the vehicle will be re-routed for transport to your selling BMW Center at no additional cost.

oh wow! so if they provide me with dates at the VPC and I cant make the dates, the shipping to dealer is free. If I confirm a date at PCD and then not show up, i am charged the shipping fee. This is helpful, thanks so much!

Not true regarding scheduling of delivery, as this is comming from a customer who has done 12 PCD’s over the past 20 years with a lot of domestic and international travel which limits my availability. PC willl work with the customer within reason, especially now as deliveries have fallen off a cliff (not doing the usual 8 deliveries per day) My most recent PCD was earlier this month (only 2 deliveries), as my X5 M60 was a week 1 build, but was provided early February 2024 dates the middle of December once I was at status 150 due to the individual block for the piano trim. The PC doesn’t like last mintute changes, nor a customer trying to delay a delivery for months— this is not reasonable behavior.

I'm not sure how you got any dates before VPC work order was done but that's not normal procedure. The PC refused to provide anything until the car landed state side and work order was done, and they told us they would not be able to accommodate any changes. They did tell me that they may possibly need to change the date due to unforeseen delays, but that was not a result of anything I could specifically request. This is also consistent with what other people's experience was here throughout the year. I think it's probably changed a bit since COVID with them nixing European Delivery.

Perhaps it's different for people ordering an SUV built in the US, or maybe they've lightened up now but that was not at all my experience in November.

I had a work order stop for a COVID era G83 2 years ago due to the RAM module. PCD wasn’t scheduled until after the car was released. Also 2 out of my 3 ED’s had a PCD, those weren’t scheduled until after US Customs clearance and then release from the VPC.

I just took delivery at PCD on 3/15. Originally PCD offered a date in early March and we couldn't make it. I asked if a Friday is available and they gave me 3/15... so they are accommodating.
