I think BMW knows that the U.S. enthusiast market really values that transmission, especially on anything a little bit smaller (the M3 and M4 are still compact cars by 2021 standards.) |

The dealer which I bought my car was so kind today to show me the 2 M4 he got.
1 the Competition for their showroom in Dravit Grey (this colour actually looks amazing in person, wouldn't have thought that) 1 in Brooklyn Grey Manual Transmission with Orange interior. He was so kind to show me the interior (I didn't touch anything as it is a sold, costumer car) but the stick looks good and the position as well, I don't think you touch anything when shifting. A concern some people had if I remember correctly. I can't wait to get mine Finally a MT again ! |

No doubt about that. Next gen M3/M4 will be either hybrid or full electric. They most likely will mimic Mercedes as they always seem to follow their lead and offer a 4 cylinder hybrid set-up. Even more reason to get one of these final fully ICE M cars.

I also think there’s really no reason to think the next M3/M4 will have a manual in ~6 years. We’ve reached the end of that road, I think.

I don't think it does or it would be one of those features that BMW would tell reviewers to point out like the ability to turn off the auto-blip for downshifts regardless of mode.

Few (but certainly not zero) purists will care about this. You could put 800 HP in the competition and have a 7 second quarter mile and as Odin is my witness I would not care and would still get the 6MT.

Let me just reiterate that I'm not even trying to suggest a claim that one is objectively better than the other. I hope no one reads this poll as "do you have the right transmission?".
I'm only asking what we're all actually driving on a daily basis. Many factors might lead us to one choice over the other. Thanks again for responding! |
