Who raced you today?

Now that the G8X has AWD I'm expecting more people to try and challenge it at a stoplight. Who raced you today?

Don't have AWD or and auto but everything seems to want to play especially when in Mexico.

Notable so far-
Mustang assume Ecoboost with tune as it was loud but wasn't crazy and had a little devil sticker on the fender.
From a lower speed roll I was able to pull away with ease. Driver commented that he didn't think I'd be that fast.

Very loud Corvette C6
From a roll he got the jump but I was able to put a couple car lengths on him.
Driver never looked my way at the next light.

Challenger Hellcat wide body-Louder than stock and more supercharger wine than stock with a Barth Tuning sticker on the window and I could smell ethanol.
So pulley, tune and E85 IDK?
From a roll was pretty even until I had to shift, then he would pull away but not by much. Much closer than I expected.

Jaguar F Type R
Highway run, pretty even though I could slowly close the gap.
Though ever time he nailed it a modest amount a black smoke from the exhaust from looked like blow by.

Countless others but nothing notable.

A very good race with most definitely exhaust and tuned 10r80 5.0 mustang. It was always a chase but that's a race. It happened 3 times. He would never line up perfectly or go evenly.

If it was a stock 5.0, then I'm beyond shocked because I never ran away from him, but I steadily pulled away in 4th gear and above.

Next kill:

Cls 63s that I'd been jamming with for a few lights.

Got behind it at a red we went for it on green.

Walked right up next to then right by it.

These things are fast and I'm pretty sure the AMG driver was more than a little surprised

I'm curious the challenger run...what speed did you start at. Because a Tim Barth e85 hellcat runs 60-130 is mid 5s compared to M3 which is 9.5, it's not even in the same stratosphere in terms of racing.

Camaro, very even through a full highway roll. I was very impressed with the speed and sound and handling and enjoyed its aggressive looks, so much so that I looked it up right after (I know practically nothing about them). It behaved more like a high-powered track tool than a somewhat sloppy one-trick-pony muscle car. Turns out it was a ZL1 with what sounded like a 6MT (definitely not a 10-speed).

3 rolls, 3 ties. The funny thing is I don't think either expected the other to be so close. He asked if the M4 was stock. He seemed surprised that it was (G82 6MT). The thing that surprised most about his car was how composed it looked cornering at high speed. It's clearly serious hardware.

The ZL1 is really not a muscle car. It's just in a muscle body. It's a handling machine. Unfortunately it's extremely difficult to see out of and you literally feel like you're in the a bat mobile. Some people might like that.

Im fairly certain it qualifies as a modern muscle car with 650/650 output

It certainly sounded like a muscle car - peak American V8 ferocity. Loved it, despite that normally not being my thing.

I've now watched several ZL1 review videos and give massive kudos to Chevy for building it. And released way back in 2017 ... if not for the interior and visibility (and branding, let's face it), I don't see how anyone could rationally choose an F82 over it. Performance-wise, it does it all.

Happy that we now have the G8x that offers ZL1 performance in a BMW M package. If not for the controversial looks, this would clearly be the modern E46 M3 - instant classic.

I wouldn't be surprised if the ZL1 was a benchmark for the dev/engineering team.

I know doesn't make sense. I've driven a couple Barth built cars and they are insanity.
Though like all high HP cars without the right tires they're worthless. No doubt fun but not fast until you're at highway speeds.

It was a chance encounter and all happened pretty quickly.
If memory serves it was from 30-40 roll and I know was in 3rd at redline before I lifted.
It was at night and was cold, low 50's, so he may have had traction issues. The M3 did not.
As a side note I'm still very impressed by the traction. It puts the power down like nothing else I've ever driven.

A muscle car typically can't a corner to save it's life. The ZL1 will corner with some of the best german has to offer. So yes the camaro name is a muscle name. if you ever get a chance to drive the ZL1 It feels nothing like the muscle car. It sounds crazy, the closet thing i drove that feels as planted going through a bend was a Mclaren 720s.

My hellcat is Tim Barth tuned . Way too much torque, definitely need the right tires and many sets of them. I've gone through 7 sets of Nittos N555R of rear tires. The car has 38k lol. I change them every 5k, but from 30-40 at 50 degrees. There's no chance he hooked unless he had 18s on. I roll race with 20s on and have no chance of hooking at 40 even if it's 80 degrees and the hellcats aren't really suited to roll race from 50 so it's always a 60 roll lol.

The new M3s do really seem to put the power down very well! I'm getting the AWD version just to ensure I don't go sideways anymore!

Have done a few races

I own a g80 m3 competition, and let me start off by saying this thing does not make 510 horsepower.

Have ran a Camaro SS 10 Speed, catless mids, e85 tune, throttle body, intake manifold, cold air intake. Projected 475 wheel.
Got him by a car half on roll.

Raced stock 5.0 mustang 10 spd ,
5+ cars with ease.

Going to race CTS v 2019 next. Wish me luck

Pulled on a 2019+ Camaro SS/Lt1. I believe it was a 10spd.
I even got him from a dig. Neither of us launched very good, but I still pulled.

Either way, he had a nice car, and you have to love the v8 sound.

Edit: forgot to mention that I had a passenger and a full tank. I had just filled up to start the trip to get breakfast. So, maybe 15-20 miles or so on the tank.

I had some fun with a C8 this morning. Not racing but he pulled pretty easily on the freeway from like 75 to 120 or so.

Widebody hellcat the other day.

Stayed right with him until about 120.

He put a peace sign out the window thinking he would gap me, the look on his face when he checked his side mirror was pretty priceless.

He pulled?

I definitely did not expect that. Their 60-130 times are nothing like their 0-60 times.

The Camaro is muscle car body on a the GM Alpha platform which underpins the Cadillac ATS and CTS models. GM may not be able to design an interior to save their lives but their chassis tuners are amongst the best in the business. The only issue I have with the Camaro is that I find the sitting with your head peeking out of the bathtub feel far too claustrophobic.
