If money were not a factor, would you still get the M3 over an M5, E63, or RS7, etc.?

Curious, if you can put the $20k+ difference aside, will you still get the G80 M3 over the E63, M5, RS7 or perhaps the Panamera S or Ghibli Trofreo ?
Obviously I am focusing on a 4-door fun, fast, sport "sedan"

I am willing to cough out $120k+ (and those were my considerations) but ended up to go with the M3 for it is just more fun, "exciting" and aggressive compare to the others... plus, I can use the left over for mods.

No stick, no buy.

Easy choice for me.

Same for me. Only other car I was interested in is a CT5-V Blackwing.
After having the M3 for a month my interest has faded.

Money no object? The MT was a requirement, so if money was no object, I would have considered a 911 manual of some sort...but availability would have to have been "no object", too. You can have all the money in the world, but you can't buy a car that you can't get your hands on.

ya if i had more money id have gone for a 911

i test drove a RS6.. found it to be too insolated for my liking, def more luxury cruiser than sporty but that's the point esp with Audi RS cars.

If money was no object I'd have an x5m and a 911 4s with a stick.

If money were no object, and I wanted a 4-door sporty car, and I could afford the new Audi RS7, or the Panamera S, or an E63, I would definitely not be getting the G80. To me, the G80 is a nice consolation prize, but all of the aforementioned cars are a significant step up in speed and/or luxury. I'd even consider that Maserati. And certainly a new M5 CS would be on the list too.

My mechanic has an RS7, tuned, and it's so fast, even though it's isolated. But the luxury is next level. And the E63 is likely brutally fast. And any Porsche is going to handle beyond most of our abilities. These are all next level.

Definitely the G80, no question. M5 is nothing for me, driving feels so isolated. Even much less interest in RS or E63.
I understand people who buy the M5 for the straight-line speed and luxury but I value totally different things in cars.

BTDT with Porsche. Great cars, don't get me wrong, but my first one was a 964 (lots of character) and my last 911 was a 991.1S which I grew to hate. Actually, my last Porsche was a 981 Boxster S and it was worlds better than the 911. Seriously. I read good things about the 992, but they're just too freakin' expensive and kind of low to the ground for me old bod.

Sorry to read that about the RS6. I test drove the A6 last year (two years?) and found it to be very nice inside, but a total yawn to drive with horrendous steering. I was going to look at the S6 but I decided not to bother. The S7 looks fabulous, but it's still just an Audi.

I was (and still may) strongly considering the Blackwing CT5-Vwhatever but as we can't even get in line to order one right now, there are none out for the press to drive and I'm pretty confident that it will be selling for MSRP or better, and it's still a Chevy underneath with GM quality interiors, so my enthusiasm has been waning.

After sitting in the G80/82 seats I really would be curious to drive a M5 CS. Very special

Your interest in the CT5-V has faded or your interest in the M3?

Love the RS6/7 Wagon but I think you're looking at a lot more than $20k. Nicely optioned ones are like $160k!!

Tell you the truth, I was considering the Ghibli Trofeo (last Ferrari V8 engine made for Maserati, and it just sounds so good), I found it pretty special but the resale with over 60% drop in 3 years, you have to be truly appreciate the car and keep it "forever" to justify the $$
Then I was about to put in an order for the E63, but found out about the M3C with xDrive, with 20k+ less, I can use that to mod my car and I like to mod my car, you should have seen my E46 M3
If there is any hiccups with the M3Cx order, I may go back to the E63, I am really liking the new interior with the AMG sport seats, as someone said earlier, it's another level
M5 CS, yes special, even with the new bonnet, I am still not "loving" it.
RS7, I think it is way overpriced
Panamera it is a dime a dozen around here, nothing special. If you spec one out to stand out, it would take you upward of $140's

Interest has faded for the CT5-V Blackwing.
The M3 is a masterpiece. I love it.
It has many of the best elements of some of my all time favorite cars-E39 M5, CTS-V2 and Giulia QV.

If the CT5-V Blackwing delivers I’ll get one. That is if I can get past the beyond awful dealer network.
No matter what the M3 is here to stay.

I prefer a lighter, more agile car. I wish they could put the M3 on a stricter diet and stop them from growing with every new generation. Half the crap they put in there is practically useless and the car doesn't have to grow so much!

I had the E63s the ride was terrible. Got rid of it after 8 months. Jumped into the f90 m5 and it was warp speed quick but it was so numb to drive. Had that for about a year and decided to grab the G80 MT. I'd happily give up some cabin with less noise to have the manual with direct steering and feel like I'm actually engaging in a car again. G80 is my daily, along with GLC63 and Ferrari F8. Of all of them the G80 always puts a smile on my face. Money isn't a thought for me. All by choice.

Literally only looking at these because of price point. If money weren't an issue and I could have multiple cars I'd just buy a 718 GTS 4.0

Test drove the M5 and is stupid fast but numb and isolating as some others have mentioned . E63 is similar to the M5. Have a 9114S - amazing car that is a great balance of agility and speed. We really wanted the RS6 Avant but in Canada the wait is nearly a year! The M3 comp will be our daily and is a great balance of fun and practicality.

Interesting post. I was/am actually in this position where I was considering these exact cars. Last June I put an order for an RS6, which ended up getting damaged at port in January. While waiting for another allocation, I began researching the E63 wagon. I consumed all of the reviews and noticed the general consensus was that "it's the one car to have if you can only have one car in your garage." Fortunately for me, I saw an 2018 E63 wagon (pre-facelift in 2021) at a local dealership and got an opportunity to experience it. It was everything the reviews had indicated. It's really an emotional, dramatic car similar to my M2. Factor in the beautiful interior (subjective) and loads of practicality (35 cubes in trunk; enough space for two strollers) and I decided to put down a deposit and am expecting my order to lock this month for an August delivery.

For fun, I also test drove an M3 CP. I found it's appearance less polarizing in person when compared to pictures. Still not a pretty car imo (subjective), but better looking than in pictures. The performance was fantastic and that for me is the draw for the car. It's not E63 fast or brutal, but it's impressive and I really enjoyed how it drove. Handled really well too. My biggest issue with the car is the cost. My particular spec for the XDrive is well over $90k, and for me, I can't justify the cost for what amounts to be a nicer 3 series. I think for a mass produced car, it's just too expensive. At least with the E63 wagon (not sedan), it's a rare car (MB makes between 200-300 units for the US annually) and so it retains it's value better. I also wasn't thrilled with the trunk capacity of the G80 - same capacity as much my smaller M2.

This isn't to disparage the G80/82; I think they're fantastic performance cars if you're okay with the compromises they require (cost being the big one). I just didn't find it special enough to get it over the E63 or even the RS6.

If money was really no object, I'd get a Ferrari Superfast. Being a bit more reasonable, a Turbo S. Next level down, 911 GTS. Sticking to BMWs, M8 Comp. Not a four door fan, but if that is the criterion, The M5 Competition. Great performance and looks better to me than the 'competition.' Then, there's this:
