Suggestions - Square setup specs for G80 M3

Hello,
I'll be ready to track my G80 in April. Suggestions for what spec rims/tire specs combo i should get for a square setup?

In my E90 M3, i was very happy with my APEX ARC-8 18x10" ET25 wheels with 265/35R-18 YOKOHAMA ADVAN NEOVA AD08 R.

I spoke with APEX directly, and they say with the G80, BMW moved to the 5x112 Bolt pattern so NONE of their wheels will work.
They should have a line of new wheels later this Summer'2021 on the market to offer.

Any other brands to suggest for lower cost track use other than the more costly BMW/OEM option?

====

Want suggestions of wheel, offset specs for G80 M3.
thanks

If you're tracking with stock suspension I would just use the OEM wheels with more track oriented tires

The G8X uses a different bolt pattern and has totally different offsets. It'll be a while until the correct widths and offsets come out in affordable setups for track use.

I imagine eventually some giant wheels will fit as it seems to have lots of room under the fenders, but how long until we can actually buy those wheels? And for the early adopters, is it worth it to be the guinea pig?

In the F80 CS we slapped some RE71 tires on the stock wheels and managed a 2:06 at WGI... I would not worry too much about them.

Thanks. After visiting all the typical manufacturers folks in this forum buy from for their cars, it's clear we will need to wait for all the retooling and manufacturing before we can get our hands on a set. APEX is a big vendor in this space and if it's not until end of summer for their timeline, I am assuming all will be no better.

My plan now is to just use my stock setup for now and hopefully be surprised with some options to choose from sooner than later.

Wheels are not going to be our only track related problem in the near future. Track oriented brake pads for the G80/G82 are non existent for the foreseeable future. These cars share their brakes with the X3 & X4M's, and X3 & X4M Competitions, and possibly several other of the heavier models as well. None of these cars is driven frequently on the track, and as a result pad manufacturers have not invested in developing track oriented pads for these vehicles. This will hopefully change in the future, and not a moment too soon, but for now we seem to be limited to BMW OEM (NON track oriented) pads. If anyone knows otherwise I hope to stand corrected.

The parts list for the G80/G82 has now been released to the dealerships, and the parts #'s are:

Front: 34-10-8-093-705
Rear: 34-20-8-093-728

They are available at several aftermarket BMW parts suppliers, and the best prices I have found are Front $179, and Rear $372. Ouch! This is going to get even more expensive, real fast.

I would not worry too much about it, it's only a question of time before someone send is stock pads to an aftermarket manufacturer and they produce some.

I saw a video on YouTube of a guy who could not find pads for is A35 AMG, he sent them to carbotech and they made pads for him so from now they are available for anyone to purchase for the A35.

I have full front and rear AP big brake kit on my M2. I don't plan on going that far on the M3 since the brakes seem a lot more enduring than the small F series blue brakes.

As for wheels, my biggest questioning if how will the dynamics of the car will be affected from going from staggered sizes (18-19 or 19-20) to square 18 or square 19 ?

Thanks for everyone's responses to date on this thread, i still await aftermarket wheel options for square setup track use, but at least i found out from my dealer that the rotors/brake pads will be covered under 3yr warranty even with TRACK/HPDE use... so that takes the track pads needed off the table!

Wow I had no idea that the new G had different specs! Even more reason why I won't be trading my F in.

Which OEM wheel would work best for track use? It seems like the smaller and lighter 824M would be ideal but I also hear there are limited tire options in that size.

How? Part of regular Bmw maintenance package? Do you have this in writing?

well... the fact that you don't need to pay for the pads doesn't make them a good track pad....

Good to know. I'll push my CA on this one. It's a departure from a few years ago when they said "nope" to any "high wear circumstances"

I still don't think this will fly. They will limit you after you've gone through the first or second set. Besides, the oem pads are ok for beginners but you'll soon get to the point where you go through a pad a day

They won't... as they didn't limit it when it was covered by the standard 4yr/50k maintenance when they used to offer it for pads and rotors...

I mean probably 2% of the owners if anything will track their cars... they most likely already taken this into account...

Now the issue of using OEM pads for the track is another thing.... they do fade earlier than proper pads and don't last too long but... it's free pads....

wonder if the plan also covers rotors.... cause even if you use track pads, just the fact that you could get free rotors could be worth it

I guess it says:

ADD BMW ULTIMATE CARE+
to cover brakes, wipers, and clutch

so I would assume that means the whole brakes

Replace the clutch once in ownership and it more than payed for itself.

As for thread subject, I see a lot of great tires available in either front or rear sizing, some on Tire rack are clearly marked as Front or Rear so it might not might not be ideal using a rear in the front etc but my main I interrogation is the effect of using square rim sizes of handling.. Guess we have to wait for someone to try it out.

It was limited before. Abuse was limited, and people received limitations to X pads and Y rotors. Maybe the new one isn't, regardless, I would still not run oem rotors and pads even if they were free.
If you track enough where free pads/rotors would be a big deal, you are likely fast enough where those two don't cut it

I saw this discussed on another thread and someone's dealer said that the pads wouldn't be covered for track use. Worth confirming in writing before paying for that package.

Standard pads won't stand up to significant track abuse.

I saw R44 in the UK are developing pads with EBC which should be a price friendly option I reckon

I asked today. Sounds like it'll be a little while before they get parts in the catalog.
