There is an organic crack in the Laserlight on my 2024 G80. Clearly there has been no impact and the crack is about 5/8ths under the hood and extends past the lens onto the casing. Its about an inch long. The light is otherwise pristine. It must be defect in the plastic. I have an appointment with BMW who I expect will tell me to F.O. but will see. The CA has never seen anything like it has no idea if they will do anything and that most likley it will escalated to BMW corp who will send an engineer. He was leaning to the F.O. scenario old me to make a big stink if needed and stick to my guns.

Hard to say based on the pictures, but they're definitely gonna tell you to kick rocks even if the crack appeared due to manufacturer defect.

Did you get PPF recently? That could easily be someone nicking it with a knife.

Why so quick to assume BMW will decline warranty. As a dealer I can tell you we fight for customers and usually win unless there is overwhelming evidence that there was outside influence.

Looks like a scratch but yep its hard to tell - These Plastic Lens are really hard to crack like that

I think it is a crack - its hard to tell from the pic but its slightly curved and wider in the center which would be an odd scratch shape + more than half is under the hood which is completely pristine. So the hood would have to have been open when it happened and there does not appear to missing material like a gouge - it feels like a crack when a put my finger on it.

A friend who is a civil engineer called it a fracture. We will see.

I had a similar fracture in a tail light. Dealer replaced it without a problem.

HAPPY ENDING! YAY!

The BMW Engineer determined it was a Factory Flaw and the laser light is being replaced under warranty. Will have the thirsty gal back tomorrow end of day or first thing Wed.

I did a 300 mile drive on Sat and really missed it.

I am dying waiting for the NY to MT Rushmore to Santa Fe to New Orleans and back to NY road trip in July.
