The car will be hideous plain and simple. I'm sure it will look better than the render but BMW has just lost it. Even on IG People are blowing up the 1 and 2er.
I'm sure some will like it, probably leasers who think new is better. BMW could have simply just changed the headlights and called it a day |

I know you agree, but as a non-biased enthusiast, I believe the current M4 iteration is the best car aesthetically and performance-wise in the BMW lineup. As you suggest, keep that baby. It is going to look better every day as BMW digresses along its current design path. ///AVM |

From my recent M4 Preview.
The remarkable thing is that presence is in abundance. People always said that M cars were too tame. With the new 4 there was more opportunities to bring the appearance to a new era. When you see both M3 and M4 you will see how more radical these cars are in regards to proportion, stance and in case of the M4 it's more dynamic profile allowing for its inclusion for Motorsport. Definitely M4 has more muscle than a conventional M440i Coupe. The new Aerodynmics offer a new interpretation of the current look that has been around for almost two decades. Again highly sculpted to provide function over form. The new exclusive to the M3/M4 hood symbolises Motorsport history especially with Coupes adapted for Motorsport such as the E9,E30 and E24. The lines recessed at the top of the grille allows the bonnet to be higher when it runs along the centre of the car without resorting to a power dome. The competition Wheel design was shown in a recent spy photograph of the M3. Both M3 and M4 will cater to more performance and aerodyanmic appearance down the line of this generation.

Next car maybe a c63s or Rs5. Hate to say it. Was trying to keep an open mind since the Alpha Romeo and Audi are not as bad with the chunky grill. After seeing several renders and leaks it just doesn't appeal to me.
This design reminds me when bmw did the radical bengal trunk design on the 7 series. The sales tanked. A year later they redesign the 7 to save the sales it seemed. It's a big gamble they are going for on this car. Time will tell. |

The facelift for the 7er E65 actually came in early 2005 exactly half way through its Life Cycle. It was not facelifted early. BMW Are no strangers to design controversy. And its malingned 2000's designs many which stand the test of time today. The E85 Z4 is a good example. That car is perfect proportion wise and I am sorry that successive generations lose that seat-to-the-road feel and appearance E85 championed.

Nice to get a more comprehensive perspective. I personally like the sleeper looks of Mcars with smaller wheels and subtle touches, but I am open to a (more performance oriented look) in a darker color. Scott, in your preview was the parking brake in the manual transmission a handbrake or push button? TIA. |

The 2002 model year marked the introduction of the E65 here in the US and the 2006 mode year being the refresh. Sales of most bangle model BMW's were actually higher than both their predecessors and successors, including the 7er before the refresh.

My theory on the G80, it will be amazing due to Alfa Romeo upping the driving dynamics in the sedan market. BMW will be on a second generation of EPS steering and a manual transmission + 5 seats is extremely rare in today's market. People will get used to the looks and it will be a hit, despite the changes in design. Just my $.02

Looking at the dimensions of the G80, it almost seems like the E46 grill could fit into the top half of the "kidney".
Definitely some aftermarket potential to correct this hideous thing. Please forgive the 1 minute photoshop effort. |

Here it is with the perspective semi-corrected.
BTW, I drove next to one of the mules today on the PCH. The presence of the car is very buff and quite good looking. I think bpost will warm up to it when we see it in person. |
