I already see the water collecting on those hood scoops.
I'm definitely not crazy about the hood design that's for sure. |

I bought a M5 after I saw that horrible thing. I was so excited for a G80 xDrive and they ruined it.

Nonetheless, I'am still suspicious because BMW doesn't really communicate about them but prefers to send dragon ball z kind of clips into the world emphasising and even expanding on the controverse they introduced with the design. I had at least the impression that with previous generations, they were immediately all into technology and drivers experience. Is this a signal it's no longer their priority? |

I'm sorry, but the pictures posted convince me that there is no angle on this car that looks good aside maybe from the profile. The wheel gap is enormous, the front end looks like a beaver and the butt end looks like that of a baboon.

How much does a E93 M3 weigh? Looks like 3800lbs compared to the 3600lb M2 CS.

Don't think it happens for ferraris, porsches and lambos each time they release a car and their sales keep going up. BMW leadership must think they know something the rest of the industry doesn't. I hope they are right. |

Had they kept the same style as the last front end, I'm sure people would have barked that they need to refresh their styling etc. Like it or not, they jumped off the deep end and I like that they at least took a shot at it. I also don't think it's that bad and overall, it's a much better car for those of us who don't care about weight/track issues. Better tech, nicer interior, overall jump to the next level. I'm more surprised that there isn't more of an uproar at the pricing vs the front end. |

As I stated before, I do push it on the highway at times, but I tend to be cautious when driving around others. Plus, how fast can you really drive here in the states anyways?? :

BMW M was proud to announce in 1993 that the e36 M3 only had 236ftlb unlike the MB C36 amg. This allowed for light weight build and lower inertion driveline with much better dynamic responses. Also the car was clearly more nimble and setting new standards in yaw dynamics back then. Even the latest F80 made this a priority, while the engine was also a real hammer wrt torque. With smart light weight build, it could combine dynamics with torque. Now, we discuss mainly about 400m drag races between a mixture of highly tuned frankenstein cars without any warranty. BTW just got a mail from my dealer, he states when I want a "dynamic performance oriented BMW", I certainly have to check out the X range! LOL! |

But you never answered my question... which is why do people incessantly post the same old tired criticisms in every single thread about a car they hate? Are they gluttons for punishment? Do they actually want to try to convince others to change their minds and join the hate the G8x tribe? Is it misery loves company? At this point, I couldn’t give 2 fucks if people like the looks or not. I’ll admit at one point, it was annoying reading the negative posts in every thread. Now the hate is just background noise and something that I pity the haters for... because I know it must feel bad for them to carry so much hate in their hearts... about a car that they have no desire to buy, no less! I read the “anybody got kicked out of the G8x forum” thread over on the F80 forum for entertainment. It’s so interesting to see how worked up people get over trivial shit and to see how the hate morphs and evolves over time and to see how often people post and whether the hate dies down and who picks up the torch and runs with it. Truly fascinating stuff from a sociological perspective. Seriously, life is too short to spend that much effort to actively seek out opportunities to spew hate over and over again. It’s mentally unhealthy. And, in this pandemic stricken and politically and socially divided world, there are already plenty of things to hate on and tear apart our society over. Why must we also do this about something as trivial as a car? |

The new cars are beautiful in some people's eyes, but consensus is that they don't look good in pictures... Still think the M4 is way better than the 4, i can't get over the audi side profile look on both ... the side line under the door handle starts nowhere to go nowhere it's just been forced across the door for no real purpose, for me the side is worse than the front actually (i've seen 4 series in the flesh).

I am not afraid to criticize even a car that I love or own, but if i hate a car I express my opinion once or twice and get over it and move on. I have better things to focus on.

I understand why the people are vocal about this vehicle. It's the g8x which replaces the model we have always bought and enjoyed. I have owned every redesign since the 1999 e36, and I have never disliked the new model so much that it steered me away from buying one. This redesign was so radical that it moved a lot of people away from it, just look at their M performance parts for the g8x 🤢 I enjoy reading an unbiased forum, and for the most part it's not hate I read, it's disappointment. Will some minds change once they can actually drive one and maybe x-drive comes out; possibly. I haven't written off the car myself, I'm caught in the limbo most of us are in that saw the M8 release and never thought the g8x would go so wild in the redesign. To those that love the car, good for you. There's no hate or jealousy, we aren't 1992 Civic drivers that come on here to troll, we are happy for you. Go buy it and make some in-depth reviews, we would love to see them.

I am relieved to see adults care to share their opinion on this forum too. When G8x came out, I was so disappointed. Then I watched M Town, got disappointed more. I was at the dealership yesterday picking up some parts. After I was done, I checked out the new M440i in white. I am one of the bunch who criticizes the new design the most. I even suggested the design team should be fired but... seeing the car in flesh, changed my mind. The car does not look weird like in the photos. The lines that look so confusing and contradicting in the photos are really not there. I agree with whoever said it was not photogenic. That is so true. I do not think I can express this in words, you just need to see the car in person. White is not even a car color I like. I only saw the car in the showroom and sat in it. So it may not look that good outside, I do not know yet. Inside is spacious for a 6' 1" guy but not very comfortable and some interior elements look a bit tacky and cheap. I did not drive the car so I don't know how it handles. If it handles like a BMW, I may have a tough time deciding between F8x and G8x. |

Interesting about Porsche, I think that sneak peak of the new GT3 has these same hood indents a la Charger/G80. Must be a thing for designers now. Although to be fair to Porsche it looks like there’s a functional vent in there.
