I’ve tried many different mounts in the G80. The best one is the Belkin vent mount that a few of use are using. I keep it on the right vent and it doesn’t block anything. The cable can be run along the passenger side and plugged into the glove box or rear USB-C. I’ve had a pro clip, magbak and a few others. They all had annoyances. Blocking buttons or not being able to use a drink holder. Go back a few pages for some pics of the Belkin magnetic mount. Good luck.

These are a little expensive, but I'd use something like this for your center console connection. It'll give you a bit more room and won't damage the cable/port if you drop something in there as it's magnetic and can fall out safely.

Thanks, definitely not getting a vent mount. Not a fan of the way they attach and definitely not blocking any AC in Houston.

The Belkin mount attaches flawlessly and does not move. And no issues with A/C here in South Florida.

Can you link to the product? Perhaps I am thinking of something different?

It's a very clean, low-profile, easy-install product imo. Link here. I followed MJBO's lead (post 105), although I ran my cable to the center compartment rather than the rear of the center console. My install is in post 124 and 138. These things are personal preference of course.

I wasn’t a fan of older Vent mounts either. I had them in our past BMWs and they moved around a lot/scratched the Vents. The Belkin one is really good. Doesn’t move and has padding so no scratches. After a few failed attempts to find a suitable spot for my Magbak and proclip mounts I ended up shit canning them and went for the Belkin. Super happy with it.

I used the 20A that was labeled for all the accessory / usb power. it is the yellow one on the bottom middle next to the blue relay.

When you say "behind that panel then out the bottom", I'm still a little confused. Sorry! Out the bottom of where? I THINK judging by your pictures you took a similar routing that I'm looking for, which is to go into the dash behind the climate panel and then out into the footwell? I eventually want to install the 12v USB plug as shown by element56 above.

I successfully removed the knee bolster, the center console trim around the shifter, but not the side panel underneath the knee bolster. Looks like it may be held on by a torx that lives under the knee bolster, but I wasn't in the mood to get out a driver and continue disassembly. Maybe this weekend.

In any event, my Rennline mount should be here soon and we will go from there.
I did not remove any panels to install my USB in the glovebox. I wanted to make sure all was as hidden as possible. I was tricky to get the large nut in place on the back of the main USB unit and that had to be in place prior to connection the power and ground wires. the last photo shows the cable to my charger.

Only been a few days but based on how it “pulls” the phone in when you get close to it I doubt I’ll have any issues.

Here is my final setup.

Thanks for clarifying! I thought I was looking at the lower center console area; did not realize you had installed in the glovebox!

I've got the same outlet you show, and my Rennline mount arrives today. Going to see if that's the direction I want to go or if I am going to end up using something else. Glad it's finally getting here though!

So the Rennline mount showed up today...at least one piece. The magnet and the ball socket did...but not the actual mounting bracket. JFC.

Rennline shipped me the rest of the mount. Unfortunately there is not a way to mount it where the phone is out of the way of the cup holders. I tried multiple configurations. So I will be returning.

I use these

https://www.proclipusa.com/

They are made in America, have interchangeable parts, are damn near bullet proof, they have different mounting options like the vent, cup holder, A pillar etc. Depending on the car.

Pricier than cheap Amazon stuff but it creates jobs and supports a US business, when I have called for options or support they are always easy to understand and quick to help.

I run these in all my cars now.

I’ve always used these but this one sticks out way to far in my M4 so I returned mine.

Like there is too much spacing between the mount, ball joint and phone? I assume that's a consequence of the phone holder being interchangeable

Below is the picture I took of the mount with a MagSafe charger. The combination just seemed to stick out too far. The MagBak was better for my needs.

Oh I see. Neither of those look like proclip usa but the proclip are definitely thick cell phone holders.
