carbon fiber, it matches my seats, exterior and everything. if I got any other trim it wouldn't look right in the car

CF trim of course.
Btw, bold choice going with the Piano Black trim. While it looks great brand new, if you just look at it wrong you'll get micro scratches all over it.

If all things were equal, I would take the aluminum fabric. But since it extends the build time, I will go with the carbon fiber trim when I place my order

Looking forward to see photos once you get it. Should look really good and will at least be different than a lot of others out there. 👍🏻

i prob wouldnt have paid for the carbon inlays if it didn't also cover the steering wheel and gives you the larger paddle shifters also in carbon, but they look fantastic
took a look at the US configurator, looks like there's only the 1k upcharge piano black finish. I think (?) thats equiv to the "piano black wood trim" option in Canada rather than the free "high gloss black trim". So being actual wood maybe it will turn out quite nicely from a quality standpoint!

2. Simply interested in what trim folks chose, not looking for validation. I initially picked carbon fiber but kept coming back to the piano black trim. Decided that it would be a nice contrast with the carbon buckets. Plus I chose the carbon exterior package. So, carbon is well represented.

I thought I'd try and save the $950 and go aluminum tetragon. Big mistake as I'm now paying about $2k to swap it out for the carbon fiber. If you're at all considering it it's well worth the extra money up front! Learn from my mistake!

Where it somewhat fails to please is that it's so common on non-M 3's. There's so little differentiation between the M3/4 and standard 3/4 interiors that the carbon fiber does help the M3/4 FEEL like a different car while sitting in it. However, I actually have more of an issue with the plain aluminum that you end up with on the steering wheel with it.. It doesn't match the rest of the trim and looks cheap. I don't think I'll spend thousands to change out the trim, but I am seriously considering just swapping the steering wheel trim. |

Pretty much what bri1042 said. The aluminum is fine. Nothing wrong with it at all. It's a nice look, unique compared to other cars I've seen, doesn't show fingerprints and is easy to keep clean. The plain aluminum on the steering wheel looked especially rather boring to me though.
The CF gives the interior a much upgraded look and feel though. I saw other people say this and thought I'd be fine, but apparently not. I saw it in a friends M3 after I got mine and thought it was a significant enough difference that I wanted to spend the money on it. On the initial order it's a really reasonable $950 compared to the much $4800 of the exterior CF package. So like I said, if you're at all on the fence and think you might regret or want it later, definitely spend the money on it now.

Here were the factors that I considered: Tetragon looked good enough to me in the pics. Should look good with silverstone leather, which i ordered I am not sure for the amount of trim, carbon is worth the price. The larger paddle shifters probably doesnt justifiy it either. Aluminium steering wheel trim is ok by me Doubt carbon makes a difference on resale. Tetragon is standard in X5 so assume its not cheap material, except carwow guy said it looked cheap. Tetragon looks classy to some and busy to others. Tetragon if ordering a sunroof since it will be nowhere else on the car. Ie M340i. What the heck, there is a piece of carbon fiber on my roof so why not put a touch of carbon on the inside too. |

Everyone likes carbon, I think it looks cheap because of the gloss. Piano Black for me. I'm still deciding on the carbon exterior package. But Piano Black suits the gloss black plastic in the competition models.
Betcha I could drop this into my G82 when it comes...

I chose the aluminum tetragon originally wanting to save the $950 on the carbon that I really wanted. In the end I spent about $2k to replace it all with OEM CF trim. Be sure to get what you want from the beginning or pay the price afterwards.
