C&D C63 AMG
This thing is so heavy, complex, and relatively uninspiring. I guess it has quicker acceleration, but at this high level, it really is just for bragging rights if you're into that.
860lbs heavier than the M3 CS, all those motors/transmissions/etc... this thing is going to be a nightmare outside of warranty. I really want to know who would want to spend the likely $100k on a 4cyl/hybrid/whatever this is supposed to be. https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews...source=twitter

Not me. I'd rather wave the white flag and just get a full-on EV.

You know a lot of this because the regulations are forcing them to go this route.
I am for sure with you guys. Why have such super complex system. Just get all EV and be done it will go faster (Tesla plaid) in a straight line. Obviously this is all coming to BMW as well. |

The new C63 is a perfect example of design by committee. The engineers were given a number of parameters that they had meet with no regard as to whether the final product makes any sense. We are talking abut a compact sedan that has three motors (two electric, one gasoline), two transmissions, weighs as much as an S class and costs about as much too. Who does this car appeal to, exactly?

Throttle house did a great review on this one.
Agree with you guys, sounds like the right hand had no clue what the left hand was doing with this disaster. They could have kept that twin turbo v6 from the old c43 and beefed that up or even electrified that and it would have been better. I think they bet too heavily on the “F1 tech” marketing as a differentiator. Something I’d expect to hear from a committee trying to pander to the enthusiast crowd with no idea what the enthusiast crowd actually cares about. Oops. |

Didn’t MB sell basically ZERO of these? The market spoke and they better listen…

They just need to bring back the V8 or a Turbo charged 6. From there they can adapt to the market etc.... The problem when you try to appease everyone is that you end up not satisfying anyone.

I mean, according to most bimmerpost users, weight gain isn't a problem because 0-60 and 1/4 times matter the most..... Same thing is happening M cars, M2 gained a lot of weight, M3/M4 gained weight. Albeit, no as drastic as the AMG example.
Simple fact: weight matters a ton. I don't care if it goes 0-60 in 3s. |

This car is ridiculous. I bet it’s crazy fun in a straight line. And depreciation will be historic with the v8 coming back

It makes a lot more sense if you bear in mind that EU regulations are forcing them down this route, like kgelfen360 said. Outside of that, I seriously doubt Mercedes would've gone this route. From a purely commercial standpoint, it's vastly harder to convince a customer to pay $100K+ for a hybrid 4-cylinder than a V8--regardless of the performance.
That said, installing the C63 with the 6-cylinder in the upcoming CLE53 probably would've been a much easier sell to the AMG base. Going from a turbo V8 straight to a 4-cylinder is going to be too dramatic for AMG people to accept, and rightfully so. This C63 will be a cluster for MB but I guess a tolerable one because they are using this 4-cylinder powertrain across a bunch of their models. So they can stomach the sales disaster that the C63 will be, I guess. |

MB is in big trouble across the board.
No one buying their EV’s, no one buying AMG (the line of AMG has been completely bastardized), and the bread and butter cars like C and E are too expensive, too cheaply built and look like a coke den in Ibiza. Maybe a few secretaries might lease these to feel good about themselves, and a few people will purchase that think G wagon is still a flex, but I would imagine they are in full blown panic mode now at HQ. |

pricing is $250 less than M3 Competition xDrive, BMW allows for manual and RWD at a much lower starting price.
It will be interesting to see who wants the AMG as it seemed to be doing poorly in Germany. https://www.autoblog.com/2024/04/17/...rmance-priced/

Also, the $85K base price is... well, it's not a stripped-down version but you're really looking at more like $95-100K for something comparable to the Competition. At least on the last C63S order guide I saw, you still have to pay more, quite a bit more, for leather seats, decently-sized wheels, etc. |
