When you leave your dog at home...(stuff gets destroyed)

This could happen. LOL. Thank goodness mine behaves! This one destroyed a new couch on one occasion and escaped a crate and broke through a door on another occasion.

I have a cousin who's doberman absolutely destroyed her red couch one day while she was at work. She also had to replace the white shag carpet ( it was in the 70's ) because the red dye ran from all the dogs saliva. The dog was around 4yo and had never chewed anything before or since. The couch had been in the same place in the room for a couple of years. Don't know why the dog suddenly went foolish.

For those adopting a puppy: "Lab mix" can mean lots of things.

Had a beagle once who dug a deep hole right down through the center of a new couch. I was fit to be tied.

He needs a buddy, this is separation anxiety. We had a 100lb Golden Retriever. The dog was a wrecking machine, we got another Golden, it stopped immediately.

My first Boxer didn't like to be crated. The last time I put him in it he tore the door right off and then destroyed two feather pillows on my bed.....you have no concept of how many feathers are in a pillow until you see the contents spread all over your house.....I came home an he's sitting in the living room with feathers stuck all over his face....I was pissed but laughing too. He won, no more crate for him.

GOOD! They're supposed to look that way.
I have one, and it's the best dog I've ever owned!

I spent the extra dollars on training, and had someone come by during my work day to let him out, and he's fantastic. I can leave out bags of chips on the tables, drop food on the floor, ect.. He doesn't care about anything (cept the cheese wrapper ). But a stranger comes around 70 feet of my home and I know about it. We've had dogs like rottweilers and chow's, but a doberman is a whole other level for alertness and security.

The thing about young dogs is that they need mental stimulation through the day, or else they will start wrecking stuff. It could be anxiety, anger, or a variety of other stresses all linked to a lack of time spent socializing it. I think too many people buy a pupper and decide they can squeeze it into their work schedule of 9hrs (+commute). And it always ends with "my dog destroys shit" or "my dog doesn't listen".

Not mine! She did her samage when she was a puppy sure but nothing on that scale. Now she just chills out and sleeps until we get back...the worst thing she does IF she does anythong is pull a tissue out of the thrash and shred it
