It’s like this, you have an inherently slow wireless charger that is about on par with most wireless chargers about 18” away from a really fast USB C charger in the arm rest.

Also, a couple cups in the cup holder, and the wireless charger is no longer that convenient to get to.

I’ve had my ‘23 G80 for a week and that wireless is a waste of money. It shuts off my iPhone 14 Pro Max after getting hot. You’re better off using a USB-C.

I wish I could change my answer to this question. It worked ok when I had an iPhone XS, and it does almost nothing with my current Pixel 6 Pro. I'm still "using it" when I have a passenger as it's a place to put my phone.

I use it as a nice holster when driving (mine is in the center console on the side) - easy to pop in and out. Not caring too much about the charging efficiency, which seems silly to say.

Would put my phone in the center console anyway, and the mobile device reminder is nice when exiting (would have left it in a few hundred times… if it wasn’t on the charger).

Overall, not worth $500… but since I have it, making lemonade.

I used it last Saturday on a long drive.

Overheated the phone and didn't charge for shit. iPhone11, no case on it during charging. Pretty worthless! usb-c for sure.

For what it’s worth it’s only $200 on MY23’s, but maybe a moot point since base price went up.

Have it specced on my build , I like the convenience factor. Worked decent in my previous 19’ 540i

Both my G05 and G20 wireless chargers are totally fine. My phone doesn't get hot in either of them, and they provide a decent charge (not a fast charger by any stretch, but reasonable).
Mine doesn’t get very hot but it stops charging all the time. It’s very positional like it has to be in certain spot and if it slides a bit it stops charging. I am using IPhone 13 PRO in G05.
I mostly use cord because I can’t trust that it will actually charge it.

installed my own mount that doubles as a wireless charger. glad the oem one was deleted from my build in production as I would never use it. added a USB port in the glovebox and tapped into the fuse that powers arm rest USB accessories.

Porsche's new Cayenne caught on with a higher voltage charging induction pad but added cooling to combat the heat. I mean, how hasn't everyone caught onto this?

💯 this. I'd love to get my $500 back for this worthless option. It would pay for a track day. I have a new Pixel 7 and it only connects and "charges" with a case on. Even when the blue charge light comes on, it doesn't charge. I always just plug the phone in in the armrest.

Don’t understand at all the hate for the wireless charger lol.

Really weird, unless you guys got broken ones. It IS slower than some other chargers, but if your phone is in there a few hours it’ll charge up. Yes the phone gets hot, but they always do on a wireless.

Not a clue why anyone would be opposed to the wireless charge lol. You drop it in and blue = done.

Greatly prefer that to the old method of having to plug / unplug every damn ride.

Primarily because I usually only remember to plug in about 30s after I’ve started driving them I have to stop again or take my eyes off the road while I try to fat finger my way to a stupid tiny lighting connection which usually ends up in my case rather than the jack, all of which Apple hasn’t improved from the early 2000’s.

There’s a healthy amount of looking for a reason to complain around here.
