For those who ordered parking assistance package on their cars

Did adding this result in the bumper deformity? Or its just cameras subtly added to the vehicle?

I think that's only for the "Driving Assistance Professional Package". The "Parking Assistant Package" (360 cameras) doesn't come with that.

That's for driving assist, not parking assist.

What is circled is the radar used for the DAP package.

Parking Assistant adds a small additional camera on the underside of each mirror and in between the front grills.

No not really, except i dont see myself really using driving assistance features enough to put up with the impact to the looks of the car.

Nice 718 gt4 pic btw; i have a racing yellow one as my weekend car (its just superb!)

It is very good. Maintains lane, good distance control and changes lanes for you if you want.

I use it. It works well in traffic, cruise control, etc. It’s certainly not self driving, but it does allow you to let your concentration lapse a bit in some circumstances. I find that the benefits far outweigh the cosmetic downside.

I’m looking forward to using Distance Control, personally. I’ve driven a dozen or more other BMWs with it; and after some initial hesitation I’ve found a highly useful application of it.

We live in a summer tourist destination, and home is 14 miles from town along a state road with few passing zones. Traffic on summer afternoons is snarled by “rubberneckers” gaping at the bay, the orchards and the vineyards. It’s aggravating traveling at randomly variable speeds 5 to 20 mph below posted speed limits. Setting the adaptive cruise control takes the guesswork and stress out of maintaining a safe distance behind an inattentive motorist.

Then there’s the more common benefit of using that function for interstate highway cruises of hundreds of miles at a clip.

I agree with all the above and will add that I especially like it in low speed stop and go traffic. It will allow you to take your hands off the wheel for an extended period of time (not forever - maybe 10 seconds max.)

I also like the way you can tune the distance between you and the car in front with four settings. These distances automatically shrink at lower speeds so you don't end up with a huge gap in stop and go traffic.

10 seconds? i think much longer. I've tried the traffic assist in person and watched youtube videos. Personally i was able to go over a minute in traffic and even then the only reason it turned off was because traffic cleared up

you you spec the parking assistant you don't get the front camera on the left kidney.

You get it with the driver's assistant pack.

Below 45mph or 60kmh you press the mode button to activate traffic jam assist and the car will basically drive itself and just bother you if it detects your eyes are off the road for too long.
