Dealer Charging $2199 for Full Front PPF

Hi all! I am about to purchase a G80 Xdrive tomorrow and was curious on one little aspect! They already installed the full frontal PPF with PPF on the trunk bumper area, handles and rear flares for $2199. Is this a good deal??

Depends on the PPF, and is it the entire hood, and fenders, mirrors and A-Pillars? Its not bad for California prices, but for Wa it may be a little steep. I'd say $1,700-$1,800. I've paid that before. Remember this, everything is negotiable.

Whole hood, mirrors, fenders and A-Pillars are done. They did not specify what type of PPF it is. Truly appreciate the insight!

No problem, there is some money in there for the dealer, but they did cover everything. And you get to roll it into your payment, and leave the dealer with it installed? Hopefully they got the headlights, as well.

You may get some people saying its too much, but to get this installed, is your time worth money? Because this is a 2-3 day job at a PPF shop, anyway.

I'd rather get it done by people who do it for a living. The dealer might not wrap the edges properly which causes buildup over time and creates this black line that looks terrible.

I would inspect it to make sure it's a good job. If it's done correctly I think it's a very fair price

Getting it done yourself is a real pain in the ass. You have to find someone competent, they're usually booked out a few weeks in advance and often they end up keeping your car for the best part of a week so for that reason alone I'd have the dealer do it at that price if it's a good job

I sold cars for a few years, and all of the dealers I worked for, about 5 in all, contracted out for it. So, maybe if he can find out if a reputable shop did it, locally, he may be good.

That seems like a good deal.

Ask them which PPF brand has been used.

Make sure the edges are tucked wherever possible, otherwise you'll see dirt build up.

If you have a carbon fiber roof then get that wrapped as well. I have had rock chips up there.

I second getting the carbon roof PPF. Thats not something you can easily repair, if it gets messed up.

That sounds pretty good to me. I'd rather go through the dealer for this type of service if the price is competitive. I trust that the dealer is going to make it right if something goes wrong vs a window and tint shop. And as someone above mentioned, you'll get it done before taking deliver. There is nothing more tedious than taking delivery and having to give your exciting new car away for a few days.
