M3/M4 xdrive problem after lowering

Hi has anyone had any check control issues with messages appearing occasionally on the drive screen such as an issue with the 4wd system after lowering? Only ever came on today and was only lowered last night. Does anyone have any ideas what it could be without taking it to bmw

None here after 4 months plus of lowering; what exactly are the messages?

Check all the sensors. Did they forget to clip them back in or break one on the rear?

Tried putting it on the computer to see if there was any stored codes etc as it's not happened again since, no codes and not done it again. Not had the alignment done as of yet could this or the spacers be causing it as if it was a sensor it would have stayed on and came on every time surely?

This may have occurred if the ignition was on for any reason when they disconnected the sensors during installation so it threw the code. Should not come back if all the old codes are cleared. Can have a similar scenario when installing a JB4 for example. Different codes of course.

You should do alignment after lowering.

The fitter has been and had the diagnostics on, only a stored and not active code for a abs sensor so cleared it, checked and all seems to be fine, fingers crossed that's it all sorted now, as you say he must have had the ignition on or something. will keep an eye on it and see make sure it isn't coming back on. Thank you for the help

Going to get the alignment done when I'm back from work and do very little mileage just to let the springs settle so it's all accurate

I would put 100 miles on and let them settle. That's what I did. You won't get much deleterious wear. These are not stanced Hondas.

Just had this happen to me today while driving on the OEM wheels and pirellis in the rain. The steering got stiffer too. But restarted and the error went away. Did you ever have it pop up again or figure out what the cause was?

Yes lowered but I had my springs on for months and thousands of miles and this is the first time I've seen this error pop up.

Hey,

In the past I had "same issue" on mu 335i xdrive msport lowered on Dinan springs. But I have never assumed its related to the fact of the car being lowered. In my case it was temp sensor on the ventilator and drive malfunction is more of the preventive in same cases notification , or final results of the problem vs root cause.

You need to read all the codes and not rely only what the computer is leaving you with. BTW: when I did restart the car, codes were going away but where coming back after few weeks. Then it was a days and then it stopped going away. In my case power was cut down also and max rpms like 3000 if i remember right.

Im not the expert, sharing my experience and I do always read all codes. Dealer may be able read codes for free if you know them well.

Good luck guys!
