New PCD scheduling procedures

My sales guy just notified me that despite my car being on a boat and not currently having any stop sales, PCD cannot be scheduled until my car has cleared VPC. Apparently that's new to him, and from a quick scan of the forum I didn't see this being discussed.

Has anyone recently scheduled PCD given this new process, and what was the earliest date offered? I'm on the Olympian Highway scheduled to arrive in Charleston on 1/24, was hoping to do late Feb but now I'm wondering if scheduling could be a holdup, stop sales notwithstanding.

I'm not surprised by this to be honest. Quite frankly, with so much uncertainly on delivery dates, it makes sense. With stop sales, port delays and COVID staffing issues, I'm sure they want to be certain that you will actually have a car to pick up once you schedule your travel to the Performance Center. The real question is how long will this add to the process?

As an aside, I did PCD in 2015 and it was a ton of fun. Highly recommend.

100% agree, I don't want to schedule a day today, plan, and then find out I have stop sales. But it sounds like in normal times the soonest date is about 5 weeks out from today, I wonder if they're holding spaces open for cars not built in Greenville that could take longer to greenlight.

Really looking forward to it though!

So for normal time for PDC after it's been dispatched from VPC you're saying it's about 5 weeks compared to picking it up at the dealer? Because if that's so my car isn't even on a boat yet it's still in Port and I'm doing PCD as well I'm looking at mid March for pick up for my car do you think?!

I am also on the Olympian Highway and doing the PCD. My dealer said he is going to push for beginning of FEB, but I highly doubt it. I think I still have a stop sale when I looked it up, but he said I did not. We will see how this goes.

Not sure yet, from what I've read normally once you CAN schedule (ie once you're on a boat and en route) the earliest option is about 5 weeks out, but that's partially due to the fact it takes about 3-4 weeks to get to SC anyway.

Mid-march seems doable if you're on a boat in the next week or so, though! You'd get there early/mid-Feb, then take a week to clear assuming no stop sales.

I'm on the Olympian Highway and doing the PCD too. I'm still showing the stop sale so no date set up yet. Hopefully I'll see y'all there.

My car was held up at the Greer VPC for the audio amplifier issue after it arrived in November. After the stop sale was resolved, I was offered a Performance Center delivery spot for Dec. 21st. This offer came on Dec. 2. I took delivery on the 21st, and I consider myself lucky that I was able to pick it up before the holidays.

My guess is this is due to the stop sales. My dealer told me the same thing that it's can't be scheduled until it is processed thru the VPC.

this has been the procedure since the stop sales started happening back in the late summer/early fall. the good thing...if there is a good thing...is that the stop sales are affecting damn near all models so its not like you'll be delayed too awful long after they stop sale is removed.

if i remember correctly...we were able to schedule PCD for about 2 weeks after clearing VPC. and that was after about a 2-3 week wait to get both issues sorted.

Doing PCD the 26th!

The way it worked for me is once the stop sale was cleared (1/5) my CA talked to the performance center to get a date. I was offered 1/26 on Wednesday, the PCD confirmed it yesterday. In their email they mention the dates they have available are based on production number, not sure how that plays into it but that's all it says really

For those of you who have or are soon to take PCD when did you complete your contract / financing ? Looking to see how soon I can finalize mine to ensure I secure the 0.9.

I believe you can complete paperwork a week or 10 days before your PCD.

Also have you locked 0.9% in the past. Current BMWFS base rate is 1.9% from the beginning of this month.

Yes, I secured my allocation and lock on Dec 26. I'm currently scheduled for production and last I checked I'm now week 6.

Yes, this is the way it works these days. (I took PCD early last month.)

In addition to missing components which might cause a stop sale, there could be shipping damage which needs repaired at the VPC. A fellow forum member had an M3 share the same journey as my M4, right through resolving the RAM stop sale -- only to have to have his rear bumper cover replaced. Needless to say, that pushed back availability of his car by 3-4 weeks.

PCD lead time is about 3-4 weeks, once it clears the VPC. You might luck into filling an earlier slot if someone else cancels their delivery (it happens). My dealership (who arranges a lot of PCDs) pulled out all the stops in my circumstances, and got me scheduled 2.5 weeks after my car was cleared for delivery. Otherwise, given the holidays and delivery backlog, it would have been at least a month later (6-7 weeks).

Pretty much this. We just did PCD 1/10. 12/17/2021 is when they first reached out to us. and first available was 1/10. The PC will only reach out to you when the car is 100% ready for delivery. In other words, all stop sales or recalls must be completed.

There are only 8 deliveries per day. It's a DO NOT MISS opportunity IMHO. Second only to ED. The 1 hour plant tour is pretty kool too, especially if you've never been on a modern production floor.

The experience is still fresh so if you got questions, ask.

We ordered (G30) back in Sept. 2021, did paperwork / financing on 1/6/2022 and was still able to get the .9% on a 1/10/2022 delivery.

YMMV

The following was sent on Dec. 17, 2021

Dear David (our BMW CA),

Thank you for submitting a Performance Center Delivery reservation for Mr. G30 B58. Based upon the production number (0000000) of your customer’s vehicle, the earliest available date for Performance Center Delivery is 1/10/2022, your customer would arrive the evening prior.

Due to the high volume of reservation requests, we are only able to hold this tentative delivery date for a limited time. This tentative delivery date will be released and given to another client if we have not received a response from you within 2 business days. After conferring this date with your customer, please inform us via e-mail if they can attend so we can proceed with delivery arrangements on our end. We will then send a confirmation email to your customer.

In the event your customer is unable to take advantage of this date, you have the option of canceling the reservation or you can provide us with 3 alternate days that meet your customer’s schedule. Alternate dates must fall within 10 working days (Monday thru Friday) after the original assigned date above. Again, dates are assigned according to your customer’s production number and are on a first-come-first-serve basis and Fridays are typically the first days to fill.
