What PPF Brand To Go With?

I took delivery of my 2022 M3C last week and got my window tint done and it looks great. Now I am going to get the front on my car PPF'd (front bumper, hood, and fenders). My car is frozen brilliant white so obviously doing the matte PPF and wanted to get everyone's thoughts on the Xpel vs. Kavaca? Does anyone have experience with either on a frozen paint? I want to make sure the cars paint looks the same as it is today and the back half of the car doesn't look different from the front.

I am getting quotes between $1850-$2100 for either of the brands from two different shops in the Scottsdale, AZ area. Then $1300 on top of that to do a 4 layer ceramic pro treatment to the car. Does this seem reasonable?

Kavaca only has gloss one last time I checked. So I think your choices are Xpel or Stek. I had Stek on my last car and it was fine. Xpel is sort of the original. Honestly, I think the installer is more important than the brand as long as you go with one of the popular brands. So if you have found good installer, I would go with whatever they sell. If they sell multiple brands, ask them which one easier for them to install.

I got Xpel for PPF and ceramic tint, then Feynlab for ceramic from AZ Auto Aesthetics.

Paid just under $5k for PPF on front bumper, front fenders, full hood, full roof, a pillars, and on the CF side blades, full ceramic on the exterior & interior, and 20% all around with 70% on the windshield for tint.

Xpel uses a thicker film as well. The film is thicker so the film can self heal if you get a scratch. My installer says you just take a heat gun to the scratch and the film looks like new. I’ve never had to do this. Stek is easier to install than xpel I hear so that may also be a factor depending on how good your installer is. I would definitely go Stek or Xpel.

I haven't done my full research yet but I will most likely be going with Kavaca. A friend of mine is the dealer for Canada and from what I know. Kavaca comes in regular and stealth (matte) and also has the option to come with ceramic coating on the PPF as well from factory. The film is 8mm thick and doesn't need a heat gun for the self healing to activate. As someone mentioned the installer is the most important factor but another thing for me is discolouration over time. I have seen some PPF go yellow in a 6 month period.

Just locked in my date of 1/10 for my PPF (front bumper, headlights, fenders, and hood) and full Ceramic Pro Gold package with 4 layers of 9H, and full paint correction. They said it is about a 3-4 day install and it is running me about $3100

Xpel stealth for me. It was a perfect match for the frozen paint.

XPEL was on my (now sold) White 2018 M4 competition. It did a great job and I will do the same on my (in production)Black G82. My local dealer will give a discount as a repeat customer, or as a Veteran, but not both combined.

LLumar dealer with self healing matte PPF quoting $3200 for entire front end and A Pillars plus roof halfway back. Seems high, no?

Depends on where you are located but yeah that seems a bit high for most areas. I would also do the entire roof and not just half.

I agree with you. XPEL stealth keeps the same sheen as the original paint. I am attaching some pics of my testing on Frozen black. One on the left is Kavaca and right one is XPEL. XPEL blends very clean with rest of the vehicle.

I was trying to figure out what you were trying to show us, here. I didn't realize what was going on, until I saw the 3rd picture, from the back angle. That's blends so well, you cant even see it without looking at it, at the correct angle.

I'm going with Suntek Reaction and have seen nothing but good things about it. I too agree, the key is the installer. Type of film as long as it's quality is less important.

Here is a fun vid.

Compared to 3M and Stek. Xpel is B tier at best. Why does XPEL ppf need ceramic coating? Is it just to drum up more business for the brand or is it because your product is junk?

PPF is marketed towards the owners like me that obsess over keeping the finish of their vehicles pristine.
