Looks good. Can you install some form of wheel locks on a stud setup?

Yes, you can find open end wheel locks in the correct thread.

Been thinking about picking up a set for the incoming M. Helps make taking on and off wheels so much easier with this.

This is likely a stupid question but what is the purpose of the studs?

Putting wheels on without them is a PITA + needed for spacers.

Just the ease of swapping wheels and not having to line up the holes with lug bolts. Also easier to align the holes with spacers.

If you're a wheel whore and like to change them up often or track, it comes in handy.

Perfect. I change my own wheels and this would come in handy. Is this what you bought?

I use this pin instead to help take wheels on and off. It came handy when I was installing spacers. Just replace one of the bolts with the pin. Once wheel is mounted, replace the pin with the bolt.

That's a neat trick. Thanks for sharing. Do you have more info or a link please?

Neat. Studs are far better IMO.

I found the pin things to be almost more difficult to install wheel, especially when being low to the ground like on jack stands. Would be beneficial if the car was up in the air for sure.

I'd love to convert to studs, but those nice titanium ones are like $500. The black zinc or oxide ones you have already look like they're rusting a big on the ends.

Those were my Motorsport Hardware nuts after less than a year of use on my M2C. Beware not to overtorque and rust. If I was buying again, I would go with some higher quality Titanium ones

What's so difficult about it? The pin acts like a temporary stud basically. It's been a breeze putting wheels on and off. It's especially useful when installing spacers since the holes are aligned.

I’ve been using two pins to do mine which now that I think about it, is more trouble than it’s worth. One pin would be easier and adequate.

As far needing em for spacers…that’s one of the big reasons I went with future classics. They include new hub bolts. So no worrying about the spacer falling off or alignment when taking wheel off.

You don't need studs for spacers as long as you get longer lug bolts. But I do much prefer studs for quick and each wheel changes at the track. Plan to install a set in the spring. I was thinking of going with future classic as I have their spacers but these maybe another option. Thanks for the post!

I don’t expect to have that problem because as you stated, this was caused by user error. I don’t over torque.

Good advise however

+1.

Wheel bolts are too annoying and take too much time.

Make sure the shop or the dealer that you use don't over torque.
