Painting or powdercoating wheels

I'm thinking of getting my OE (824M 18"/19") rims painted or powdercoated but am totally clueless on this subject. Any knowledgeable member out there who can educate me on the basics?
Thanks!

Most good powdercoating places, use Prismatic Powders. You can check the colors, online, and they also offer for you to purchase samples of the colors.

If you paint them the will chip really easily when mounting tires, I talk people out of painting them all the time and send them to get powder coated, way more durable for not much more money

These are two examples of powder coated wheels. I like Bronze/Chrome which I have used a couple of times. Examples below:

Thanks for posting. Do you remember a ballpark $ figure for four wheels?

Here in Cali about $500-600 depending on the color. Powdercoat Black is cheaper some shops can do it for $400.

I think in the ballpark of about $700 for the set. Look up Prismatic PMB4124. A gorgeous color I have used and plan on using it again in the future. You can google the color and see numerous examples of wheels powder coated with that color. You can find shops that will remove the tires and wheels and then they will send out the wheels to be coated. It is normally only a day or two process and much cheaper than buying all new aftermarket wheels. Plus you retain the oem wheels which would be important when leasing your vehicle.
