Car covers

Looking at getting a cover for my G82. It will be garage kept, but the kids are in and out and want to have some sort of protection for it

Honestly I've never been a fan of car covers for regular use. Long term storage is a different story. Even though the inside of covers tend to be somewhat soft, there really is no way to prevent rubbing dirt into the paint and a wearing against the areas that stick out. You could wind up doing more harm to your paint than good.

I used a CoverMaster-brand cover (via Amazon) for winter storage on my M240. Likewise, kids walked by it all the time and I'm convinced it helped a lot. Just need to wash (and dry) the car before covering to avoid scratching.

BMW CCA has discounts on Microbead covers. I have no direct experience but if CCA has a relationship with them, they have to be decent.

Garage List
I got an outside cover from cover craft for the g80. Fits great.i only use it if the car is very clean and dry when I park it (uncovered outside parking at condo).

The concern about rubbing isn't an issue if you park inside. It's the wind that causes flapping, and hence rubbing against the paint.

There's another company that offers flannel interiors for their covers (California covers maybe?). That would certainly help at least a little for drive-by kid impacts.
