Which oil brand/type is used/suggested for G8x?

Brand is not important as approvals.
If lease use LL17FE. If you are out of warranty use LL04.
Some oils are better than others although they are all approved by BMW. I

The only official oil for BMW is Castrol. All BMW oil purchased from a dealer is Castrol products but branded as BMW.

Yes, since 02/2021. Until then it was SOPUS. So, if someone has old stock, you are getting SOPUS (IMO, it was better product).
Which proves that brand is irrelevant!

Not sure. If you looking for LL01 and LL04, there are quite few.
If you looking LL17FE, very few have actual approval.
Run away from those that state: recommended for xxxx.

Redline is more of speciality oil. HP stuff is ester based and that means really high oxidation. If you are not tracking your car, forget about it.
