Coding Bowers & Wilkens DSP via Bimmercode

I noticed we could code our head unit to Bowers & Wilkens, instead of H/K (which I have). I did this yesterday and must say that it made a big difference in bass and clarity to my ears. Sound is subjective, but I highly recommend trying this out for anyone that is underwhelmed with their current HK DSP profiles!!!

[EDIT]: Updated the title and post to reflect Bowers & Wilkens, and not B&O as I originally posted. Thanks, MarineRaider for pointing that out.

I love the fearlessness of simply trying this, Real. I may code this as well, just to test it out. Thanks for sharing.

It does, I will post pictures shortly. It profiles 5 DSP profiles such as Pure, Concert, Stage…so far Pure sounds great.

It can be reversed as well back to the L7 iDrive settings.

It's not B&O but Bowers & Wilkens.

BC has it all ready to activate, I did. I casually checked out some of the DSPs, really cannot tell if any are better than the Logic 7 but will give it a go.

Takes 1 minutes, perfectly safe. Obviously BC has this mod dialed and fast tracked. Super easy to go yes or no.

I discovered something similar for my old M235i - https://www.2addicts.com/forums/show....php?t=1723637

Easily reverted with no bad effects. I say try it.

Just tried this. VERY easy. You get all of the different B&W sound stage options. You can hear a difference between each of them and I'd like to think that what I'm hearing is overall better than before the B&W settings, although there could be at least a slight assumption bias that I'm expecting it to be better.

Would you mind posting exactly where and what changes you made in Bimmercode?

Cool

Just did this. Replaces the stock Logic 7 DSP with the following:

Studio - No surround, just music as recorded (claims)
Concert - surround dsp emulates a live concert hall
Stage - surround dsp emulates live stage
Movies - surround dsp emulates movie theater
Lounge - DSP applied to rear speakers for backseat listeners

To my ear Concert, Stage and Movies all sound very similar, with Concert perhaps the most balanced and clearest. Stage and Movies have some enhanced base and a more muted upper end.

I left it on Concert and drove for maybe 30 mins listening to a range of stuff from Marley and Fleetwood Mac to Travis Scott and Blu DeTiger. It sounds pretty good and I might just leave it here for good although I will probably do a back to back with Logic 7 just to confirm my thoughts.

You need an OBDII adaptor. This is the one Bimmercode recommends
Bimmercode Adaptor

You have to pay for BC to get all of the features and then once you connect it with the car you can go through the various modules and change the settings. It's actually pretty simple.
