M3 winter tires

Still a bit early, but winter is always around the corner up north.
Most online configurators do not seem to have info for it.
What sizes would the 2021 M3 take for winter tires? The manual seems to mention "275/35 R 19 100 V XL M+S". Any idea if 265 or 255 square setup would work (since narrower is usually better in snow).
Also will 18s clear the brakes Front/Rear (non-competition RWD model)?

Thanks, please share any updates here.
And yeah, it will be my daily year round. Manual is more important than AWD, otherwise I'd have gone for the convenience of AWD. That being said, I miss RWD, last 2 (335/340) were AWD, but all before that were RWD all year daily drivers (albeit not as much hp/tq).

For what it's worth, I'm planning to run my M3 comp this and all winters as well….I don't live in Canada, but New Hampshire as far north as Berlin, NH and we sure as hell get some snow…definitely following this threat closely!

+1 here.

Tires are easy, the challenge is finding aftermarket wheels that fit. I would be fine even with the stock tire sizes. PIRELLI WINTER SOTTOZERO 3 is available in 275/35/19 and 285/30/20

A member in another thread mentioned these, which I believe are the OEM winter wheel option:

https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...nt-36115a076b7
https://www.getbmwparts.com/oem-part...ar-36115a076b8

But for $4k, I'm planning on a set of 826Ms (I ordered w/825Ms) with the Sottozero 3s mentioned earlier... I don't drive in really bad weather and like the idea of keeping the stock look and wheels dimensions.

I agree but a 30 radial tire is paper thin and we have nasty New England potholes.

Good/fair point - the OEM winter package are 35s so I think I'm willing to risk it.

What about lowering springs and winter tires will they rub at all you think? Because I know the winter tires have a little bit more tread on them than the summer tires… I would just like to know some of your opinions on clearances for them!

If you could fit the stock 18s on all 4 corners (spacers possibly needed in back), that would open up plenty of options for winter tires.

I would worry more about ice build-up in the wheel case, especially if you have lowering springs. Plan to put ceramic coating in the wheel case to deal with ice

very interested if this an option. What offsets would work front/read with 18s and what is the bolt pattern on the G80 btw?

Dimensions on the 824Ms are here: https://www.bmw-m.com/en/topics/magazine-article-pool/bmw-m3-m4-rims-wheels.html

12 or 13 mm spacers in the back should push 18” rears out to a similar profile of stock. This setup will also allow you to rotate the wheels.

Someone check my math…

Every month or so I check tirerack.com for performance winter tires for the 824M wheel. still nothing as of today.

Fwiw, q tirerack rep thought there might be some options available towards the end of summer.

I hate the idea of having mismatched front and rear tires but I suppose its not the end of the world for a winter application.

Dang. Pickings are slim. Your best bet now is bumping up to an 825/826 19” square setup and run Blizzaks.

Ya, I keep checking for winter wheel/tire packages from them too. I don't like the style of those OEM wheels posted above and there's no way I'm dropping that much for wheels I don't like. Tire rack usually has pretty good options once they actually start posting them.
