This knob wasn't embraced well when it was released for the F8x, some people calling it 'Pepboys knob', etc. lol I personally thought the aluminum goes well with the G8x interior and decided to give it a try. Obviously, the bracket for the shift boot is different for our cars, so I had to reuse the stock piece which involved some trimming of the shift boot (F8x boot has a bigger footprint), gluing, and stapling. The knob itself feels thicker around the belly than the stock piece. If you've driven an RX-8 in manual, it feels somewhat similar. As for the shift linkage, I wouldn't say there's much difference. It's mostly for cosmetic and the lighted pattern. I wish I took some pictures while doing the fabrication to show what's involved but if anyone is interested, I can take some closeup pics of the boot to show how I managed to fit it. |

I like the Auto Tecknic's design better than other competitions.
The one on my old F87 had a subtle design that had a premium feel to it, if that makes any sense. I inquired about their G8x release and was finally able to get a set. As opposed to the rugged, functional look of the other products, this one has a better design integration that flows better with the G8x's design language. (Just my personal opinion ) |

Thank you!
I followed your thread but I must have tapped into a different harness. The knob light now go in tandem with the emergency lights button. I was also surprised at how much sound deadening material it had between the cabin and the transmission tunnel. None of those were present on my F87. |

one touch turn signal. why do you need to code that? the idrive 7 lets you change it, either 1, 3, or 5. is the coding one different in some way?

By coding it, we get to choose up to 5 blinks. Speaking of US models btw. |

Mine's going in for PPF, finally. 1,800 miles over 4 weeks (including 1,000 drive home from PCD) without a blemish anywhere, so that's good fortune. Gonna be a long week till it's back in my hands Friday!

Yeah not sure, glad it's not happening for you. I tried everything honestly to get it to stop, I probably have a "weird" v1 but it's great with the standard suction mount.

It's cosmetic, but it does change how it feels in your hands. The only way to affect the throw itself would be to change the actual shift rod/linkage. A knob alone will not accomplish that.
