Tires on lease return?
First time leaser here… i was wondering when the time comes for the lease return, if i decide to do so, will the car need to have the same brand tires it came with (Michelins) or any other brand. Currently running Contis DWS06…

I would imagine that one might give you a hard time if it's not a BMW star tire.
Then again, to certify a car my understanding is that they're supposed to put new tires on. Very interesting question. |

I always lease, bought different tires throughout the years and never had an issue. I've returned cars with all seasons that originally had summer tires.

My dealership is not picky, as long as you are using same quality tires and they are still in good condition

If you're leasing a new bmw, things are overlooked.

I've been leasing over 20 years and have never had an issue with returning with different tires. The lease inspectors I've had only care about tire tread…most don't even know what run flats are.
Also, my bmw dealer actually Carries continentals and few other brands since people hate run flats…so they definitely won't have a problem with those tires. OEMS change tire suppliers all the time (even in the same year)…that level of detail typically won't make it back to the person doing the lease inspection so they don't give a shit what tires are as long as it has tread left. It's not like they have a cheat sheet showing a 2018 with sport package should be brought back with michelin vs a 2019 that has run flats. They just don't have that ino

At the end of the day, it's your money. You can a pre-inspection (typically weeks before actual return) so if they ding ya, you have time to remedy

As long as the tires are in decent shape, that's all they care about. The finance company will have absolutely no idea about what came back with the car other than what the lease return inspector notes (and they are not noting brand). I've returned countless leases with zero issues. |

The dealership inspector gave me a paper that all PRE END inspection is passed and car in great condition. 2-3weeks later I received a bill from bmw financial…..including wrong tires. That original was not equipped by manufacture. (It was 90% new tires/micheline ) And you can tell people how wrong they are or whatever u want….shit happened to me. And may be repeated to other people. Your car owned by bmw financial not by dealership Last edited by GoodGuyAvi; 02-07-2022 at 09:39 AM.. |

"Same specifications as original equipment supplied on your vehicle (size, speed rating, and run flat, if applicable)" I'm guessing that the tires were different specs or they made a mistake. |

any brand ,as long as they are same spec (run flats must be run flats )must also have at least 4mm tread left .In my experience if you are leasing a new car they will over look any tire issues
