Congrats. Being first on the wait list is a good thing, but it really all depends on how many allocations your dealer gets. A large dealership with a history of selling M cars, may get a few per month whereas a smaller dealership may not even get one. That being said, production delays and supply chain issues have also made things a little more unpredictable. I know that's a non-answer, but it's probably the best anyone can do right now.

You and I can wait together. I put a deposit down one day earlier for a G83 and I was also told I was first in line. I'm in MA. I read that allocations for March production dates will be released after January 20th.

This has been very common in the last year or so. No one really knows when and how many allocations a dealer will get in the coming months. It might take a month or several.

There are several threads about this in this section.

I put my deposit down in November, I don't know what place in line I was at that time, but I haven't gotten an allocation yet. Dealer is a pretty big one here in the bay area and I'm told that I'm first in line now for an M4 Xdrive. My rep told me they received an X5M allocation they are trying to trade for my M4. I don't "need" the car right now so I'm willing to wait. Dealer is selling at msrp and willing to take the PenFed discount that is now apparently gone. My hope is that it's back by the time my car gets delivered, but not sure how likely that is.

I put my deposit down on 12/28 to be 2nd in line at a high volume dealer that sells a lot of Ms, but my spot in line still hasn't changed as of now.

I ordered my M3 comp in mid November and was only person on list - still waiting on small dealer to get an M3 allocation. Dealer size/volume matters.

Maybe this thread was a good luck charm for me --- heard from the dealer today and I've got an allocation!

G80 or G82? Either way, if someone is seriously in the market for one, I wouldn't have a problem putting down a non refundable deposit for an allocation. Pay now or pay later right?

I put a deposit down on Jan12. They didnt tell me how long the waitlist is and I didnt ask. I think I like it better this way. I am just gonna relax and try not to stress about it…

Yes, they told me 10 weeks. 2 weeks until the build starts, end of March delivery (not holding my breath on that of course). They didn't have to trade for the X5M slot, they received the M4 allocation.

I had a nearby dealer with a "close" spec coming that was willing to sell me an incoming car at $5k over MSRP. Very glad I waited for my exact spec (and I can't bring myself to pay over MSRP on principle alone).

Deposit or mark up? Sound more like a mark up.
