Do you guys log into your idrive or use the guest account?

I understand that logging into my account saves all my driver settings. But is that all it does?

Because I really dislike it showing my name every time I start my car. I tried changing my name but it's tied to my bmw account and I can't change it.

So should I log out and just use a guest account? How are you guys doing it?

I use my profile. You can change it to display only your first name if that helps.

While on the topic, I use the profile option but my profile doesn't seem to go with my digital key. It asks me for a profile when using the card.

Is there a way to set a profile to the digital key card?

Yes, there is. But, only one of them. Mine is tied to my iphone, but if I use my Apple Watch to unlock the car, it defaults to guest. So, I just use my phone to unlock the doors.

I recently picked up my 2021 G82 and not familiar with Digital Key. I have one physical card that I have set up. Where two cards given with new cars? When I use the one card, it doesn't use my profile but prompts me for one. Is there a way to tie a profile to the physical card?

I haven't set up the iPhone yet. If I set up the iPhone to use as a Digital Key, does it eliminate the ability to use the Digital Key Card (physical card) or stop anything else from working as it did before?

Yes. Go to car -> Driver Profiles -> Driver recognition -> With digital key -> check box "Link driver profile to key"

You can setup your phone and Apple Watch. The key card will continue to work. The main purpose of the key card is to give to a valet if necessary, although of course you can use it as your key.

Thank you. I found that setting as well. Its a bummer you can name it to whatever you want.

I'm half temped to delete my profile and just use a guest account named whatever I want. But if I do that...

Do I only loose the cloud saving my profile setup? While its cumbersome to setup (so much changed since the 2017 F80 M3 idrive I last used), I really would rather not my name be displayed every single time I start it up so I would be ok loosing that.

But will the BMW app still work the same? Like remote start and remote camera?
