Wireless Charging Effectiveness Poll
Generally speaking, I have had good experiences with automotive wireless charging implementations. However, I don't use a phone case. (I admittedly have never owned a BMW as of yet, so I can't comment on these specifically. That's where you guys come in )
Anecdotally, it seems that most people that have had a poor experience with wireless charging use a phone case. I feel confident in saying that a significant percentage of people use a phone case, which might explain why wireless charging in BMWs is not well regarded to put it mildly. My goal for this thread is to just be a data point on if using a phone case or not has a real world impact of the effectiveness of wireless charging.

With my Galaxy S21 Ultra on the wireless charger, it just gets hot and the battery still gets drained.
I use android auto and Spotify 99% of the time which obviously doesnt help but I would've thought that the wifi charger would have at least held the charge if not increased the charge but it simply still drains even when on the wifi charger. Ive not tried the wifi charger without using Android Auto yet. I ought to but then whats the point when AA will be my goto for all things map and music. TBH I usually just stick my phone in the armrest and dont bother with the wifi charger 99% of the time because its that poor but also because I have to remove my Galaxy S21 Ultra from its case each time. For longer journeys I'll use a charging cable instead. |
