Oregon CCA Motorfest was a bundle of fun

We had a great drive down various country roads (HWY 219 for most of the drive) down to Salem yesterday to meet up at BMW Salem to join a gaggle of BMW's representing 50 years of fun cars on a short-ish cruise the meet venue at a gorgeous private residence in Silverton.

My G80 was the only G80/82 at the event, which was very interesting. The collection of cars was heavily biased towards older cars, with only about a half-dozen F82's and about the same number of F87's (including a gorgeous Misano Blue M2CS). All in all, I think there were 125+ cars at the event.

Reactions to my Frog ran the distance from appreciative through to one asshat. It was absolutely hilarious watching everyone who saw it basically skip the entire car and go straight to the grill when looking at it. My friend and I seriously regret not bring a chalkboard for people to vote "like/hate". The asshat probably would have voted multiple times, but that would have been part of the fun.

I always intend on taking tons of photos at these things but never end up taking very many. Posting a couple initially, and I'll probably post a few more later.

One more shot this morning. I've been waiting for my friend who had a better camera to send me his full-rez shots.

In retrospect, it occurred to me while chatting with a friend that the crowd at this show (human preferences and the cars that attended) were more heavily weighted to older cars (2003 and earlier) than I would have expected.

We had a small grouping of newer cars, a few M2's including a CS, about 4 F82's, my G80, and a single E90 M3. Almost no non-M F-chassis cars, a single new Z4, and one G20 330i X-Drive. Most of the attendees were utterly uninterested in any of the F-chassis cars and the attention that my car got was, of course, focused on the nose and the color. The F8x group mostly stayed clustered together.

Very different than my experience up at the Puget Sound CCA M Car Day in 2019. Considering the number of F cars in the area, I wonder if folk have had a negative experience owning newer cars with this group and now stay away.

So, any amusing one-liners from the asshat?

Not really, he didn't appear to be particularly clever. He did directly tell me that I should have bought a used F82 instead. My reply was a simple, "No, I bought the car I wanted".
