I posted this on another thread but you don't have to pay over MSRP... There are plenty of dealers who don't do markups (in and out of California), you just have to find them. I did some research and found the regional inventory manager for the USA West Coast. I got him on the phone and went through inventory and allocation lists for the dealerships on the West Coast. Once I had some dealerships narrowed down I started calling those dealerships and identified the ones who did markups and the ones who didn't. I live in Southern California and local dealers near me wanted $15-20K over MSRP (BMW SD doesn't do markups but had no allocations till next year). Big NOPE... I found a dealership Washington who didn't do markups and had an open allocation coming up. I ordered my G80 MT in January and it should be arriving in the next couple of weeks so I'll be flying up to take delivery!
Bottom line - If you do your research and are prepared to wait a bit longer for an allocation you don't have to pay over MSRP. I'd be happy to walk someone through the process if they have any questions. I refuse to pay markup on any cars or watches.

Just FYI, if you're paying MSRP, you're paying markup pricing over Invoice. And if you're paying Invoice, you're paying markup over dealer hold back.
If your purchase isn't below invoice, you're paying for a price that's been marked up. |

I feel there is going to be price destruction coming. The next year the manufacturers are going to be begging us to buy new. This has a lot of feel to 2008 all over again.
