The M3 has much more aggressive rear wheel arches which looks a lot nicer that the ones on the M4, not sure why BMW designed the two differently, that was a mistake?! Also the grill is what it is, but the hood doesn't make sense and the fake side vents just doesn't tie into each other. Actually I think the M3 looks nicer but I'm strictly an M4, M3 Touring, X4M fan.

It's a shame that BMW made my favorite car finally with M xDrive fuggly 🤓.

Take a look at the rear arches/fenders on the F80 vs F82

They did the same on that generation as well.

Seeing the black M4 driving around with light shining on it from different sides, it becomes very apparent that the side profile really doesn't match the front and back. The front and back have very hard and aggressive lines, while the side has very soft, almost invisible lines. It looks like two different cars.

..I was driving rout 202 in NJ and stopped at a dealer to look if there was a G22/82/80 on the lot and was surprised to see a G22, blacked out over red and it looked good. It was dark and hard to take pictures. Having looked at so many pictures and videos her it was nice to see the front end in person, I liked it. I think i'll like the G*x in person as well.

The front is really a let down. The hood is the biggest challenge. The roof line in some angles looks like the previous X4.

I like black in this generation, however the front does not look all that aggressive compare to the M440i.
Sort of remind me of the E92 front.
Wish it was more "in your face"

Depends also on the amount of cooling BMW has built in.

The track readiness of the M cars of yore?

If you mean adding track pads, fluid, front camber and tires then yes the M cars of yore were mostly track ready. And many people eventually sacrifice more daily comfort by swapping the suspension out for a set of coil overs.

The new one yes is significantly heavier meaning it will likely go through consumables at a faster rate, same as any fast&heavy track car out there (Nissan GTR, Mustangs, the heavy Camaros etc). But I expect the “track readiness” to be similar to prior models.

I can't get over the fact how big the car has become, looks maasive when it goes past the Audi A4. Hope the upcoming M2 is the right proportions.

People are crazy for saying the car looks better with a front license plate. Y'all will tell yourselves whatever you have to...LOL. News flash: No car in the world looks better with a front license plate! Not this one, not any. Keep it clean and let that big 'ole nose breathe as much air as it can for cooling!

I like new front end (w/o license plate), but hate the rear!

I'm in no rush...waiting for AWD, targeting 2022 probably. Need to see a lot of these colors in person.

A bit hesitant about owing a frozen color as a year-round daily in the midwest, but I'm probably leasing this time and at the end of the day, it's just a car so I'm just gonna enjoy it.

I'm the first allocation my dealer has lol. I likely won't even see the car in person before I take delivery, let alone decide my build.

For all the ones that think the car is great but don't like the front...there may be some solution for you guys

Check out the vid here, Prior Design is a well known (wide)body kit manufacturer from germany and they are showing in what direction it may go.

For all the ones that do not understand German, move forward to 3:40 (v1) & 4:25 (v2 & widebody) and 7:45 (various ideas)

At the same time you get an idea how the car looks lowered and with proper wheel stance.

The 911 refuses to compromise like that. And if the issue is cost, a $60k C8 Corvette has a separate ebrake caliper. This is BMW being cheap, even on their top of the line M8 Competition.

Very interesting. Looks good. Its good that 3rd parties are trying to develop alternatives. Im curious to see how full face changes would affect the balance of the car performance wise.

I like all the rendered looks in this video more than the stock grilles.

Don't disagree with you, but AMG/Audi Quattro etc all do the same so it's not only BMW.

Brakes on BMW M cars have been less than track ready pre F8x gen and F1x M5/6.

Single piston floating front calipers aren't exactly track brake spec.

We have never seen as track ready/capable M3/4 as the last generation (apart from M3 CSL) and on test drives on track the German magazine Sport Auto claimed the G82 was a class above the F82 on track.

Wrong, this would look best with a full cover, or behind a wall

Now this, this I can get on board with despite the size and weight The nose is still "in your face" but the design is much more coherent
I feel like this is going to be the same outcome with the S55 exhaust sounds. At first people who buys the car will claim it's ok, but when an option becomes available (EL mid exhaust), all the original praisers saying the S55 sounded great will jump on the first chance to upgrade.

Original for comparison
