Yes, S58 is very similar to S55 (flame suit on). Simple fact - more air = more power.
Yes, but if it's only 3 BHP at 6,000 RPM you are unlikely to notice.

Speculative at best. The engines may be similar but there are differences, even differences in software could change power delivery.

I know I’ve poked at you guys about the power claims and until I see a dyno of a S58 M3, I’m sticking with the stance that these are claims not proven.

You show me a stock S58 G80 dyno where it makes 10 whp, I will absolutely buy two today.

Until then, I’ll wait until it’s time to replace the stock filters and then I’ll pick up a couple.

Plenty of testing has been done on YouTube on performance air filters. I think the topic has been beaten to death.

For turbo BMWs, you'll gain some whp up top and lose a little wtq at the low end.

BMC filters have always been my first mod on a new car and I've never been let down

Installed these today and removed charcoal filter in about 10 min. Didn't bother removing the braces. Can't say I notice anything different but my cars already fairly loud because I put in new mid pipe. Either way, for just over $100 bucks I figure why not.

Easy carbon filter removal:
- Rectangular filter: pull from the black tab side, so that it slides out
- Triangular filter: pull from the middle with two needle nose pliers

Above instructions allow you to re-install the filters, just in case.

Otherwise: pull at will, and destroy carbon filters. Just make sure you wipe any carbon residue.

Why are these filters oiled? What benefits does the oil have to a non-oiled filter?

From BMC website:

Generally speaking, vehicle such as automobiles or motorbikes require total particle filtration efficiency up to a minimum dimension of 10 micron, in order to avoid any risk of foreign bodies passing through large enough to damage the mechanical components downstream the intake system.

OEM air filters are made of paper, and their main function is to protect the engine. These filters feature high resistance to the air flow which, consequently, reduces the pressure and the engine performance. BMC’s air filters allow the passage of a greater air flow. Moreover, compared to traditional paper filters which must be replaced when carrying out maintenance, BMC filters can be re-used so that they last as long as the vehicle itself.

I ordered the aerosol kit from BMC from Soul. I think there would be a better chance at an even application using the aerosol oil.

Yes, you will hear a slight increase in induction noise with combination of new filters installed and charcoal liners removed.

You can simply remove the five T25 screws and you should be able to get the filters (2 each side) out... the charcoal one is the #2 filter for each side. Then the BMC goes in very easily. It gets tight but you do not need to remove anything but the filter housing. I just did it in 15 minutes max. Tip - it really helps having a LONG t25 torx driver... 8 inches or longer.
