Extra Set of Rear Wheels for the Front

BIMMERPOST
     Featured on BIMMERPOST.com
Has anyone tried to get an extra set of the rear wheels and mount them on the front to clean up the look of the car? Would it even be possible? I really can't stand the look of the 19/20 inch set up on the car.

I wouldn't do it. Even if they fit--and they may not since the rears are almost a half-inch wider--the rears are also going to be heavier (will negatively affect steering and handling) and the overall circumference is off by 0.4%, which may not sound terrible but could affect stability/traction control computer?

What about the performance 1000m wheels? 21 in the back and 20 up front in regards to stability/traction control/overall circumference?

They engineered it that way for a reason. But give it a shot and report back

I read somewhere that the offsets are the same front to rear.

Redneck math says that they would sit approximately 13 mm tighter inboard (1"= 25.4 mm/2) and you probably can't mount a spacer to push them out. Need to make sure they clear inside, but they should sit pretty flush to the fender.

Personally I would love to run a square setup with 20's front and rear.

Strictly speaking in terms of total tire height, it's close enough such that stability control, speedometer, etc. should not be significantly affected or throw errors. It does look like a 275/30/20 is a tad bit closer to stock height than 285/30/20. I have no idea if it will clear calipers or the fender.

Meh, it was just a random thought.

It would probably be worse if it's an XDrive.

I’m actually doing the opposite for the winter: putting 9.5 x 19s on the rear, so I can run 4 identically sized snow tires and keep front/rear tire circumference the same (xDrive, so it matters). If I need more poke in the rear, I have 12mm and 15mm spacers coming off my current BMW.
